Italian media outlet Calciomercato has learned that Ligue 1 side Saint Etienne have been showing interest in Arsenal forgotten man Yaya Sanogo.
The French forward hasn’t even made a single matchday squad since returning from a somewhat successful loan spell at Charlton Athletic and it is clear that his long-term future at the Emirates is in doubt.
It is difficult to comprehend why Sanogo was not allowed to leave in the summer transfer window, but it appears that he will certainly be leaving the club in January.
According to reports from Italy, Saint Etienne are keen on bringing the forward back to France, and they will probably take the player on loan with an option to buy.
With Sanogo clearly not in the first team plans of manager Arsene Wenger following the arrival of Lucas Perez, chances are the striker will be allowed to move clubs in the winter transfer window.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed loan spells with Crystal Palace (10/0), Ajax (3/0) and Charlton Athletic (8/3) since joining from Auxerre, while he didn’t score a single goal in 11 Premier League appearances for the Gunners.
