Ever since Jack Wilshere confirmed that he was going to be leaving Arsenal Football Club in search of something new, many people have been left to wonder where on earth he’s going to end up next. The midfielder spent so much of his life on the books with the Gunners that the idea of him going somewhere else just feels a little bit wrong. Beyond that, however, the thought of him jumping across London to one of the club’s local rivals is absolutely sickening.
There are just five miles separating the Emirates and London Stadium, and it seems as if that could end up being Wilshere’s final destination in this saga. West Ham United have shown an incredible amount of interest in Jack even before this contract situation came to light, and it makes sense that they’d be one of the first clubs he turns to. After all he’d be staying in London, staying in the Premier League, and staying at a pretty high level of football as he attempts to break back into the England setup.
Alas, the deal isn’t yet perfect, and there will have to be some serious negotiations if they want to really push it through to the finish line. Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly offered Wilshere a one-year contract, which he isn’t too happy with. He wants stability in his future, which is something that was not available to him with Arsenal.
The West Ham higher-ups are reportedly a bit concerned about his fitness levels, despite the fact that he was able to make more than 30 appearances last season. Of course, one of the glaring issues on their side of things will be Jack’s history with injuries, and while he’s been fine as of late, the 26-year-old will never fully be able to escape that reputation.
The real question remaining is whether or not he’d be willing to jump abroad in order to fulfil his desire of first-team football. Not enough English players are taking the leap and going elsewhere around Europe these days, which is a shame because there are plenty of opportunities available to them. There are a handful of sides that would jump at the chance to bring Wilshere to their club, and we’re a little bit apprehensive to see which direction he winds up going in.
Will Jack Wilshere move to West Ham United?
