All football fans have been forced to endure some really unfortunate times over the last few years when it comes to their love and passion for football. Now, two years into the COVID-19 pandemic, it still seems as if there’s a long way to go before we can even hope to get back to something resembling “normality”.
Arsenal, like many others, have seen a parade of postponements and cancellations over the course of the last few years – and the 2021/22 season is no different. At this current moment in time there are a lot of people calling for a circuit-breaker suspension of some kind given that so many fixtures have had to be postponed.
This now extends to the League Cup, too, with Arsenal’s game against Liverpool today being called off after a request made by the red half of Merseyside.
Arsenal are enjoying a really strong campaign up to this point and while there’s still a long way to go, and anything could happen, it would be a shame for something to really derail it at this stage.
Still, if it’s what needs to happen to protect the league and the players, then so be it.
Do you think the current fixture congestion could cause problems for the Premier League?
