Wenger had a three-hour meeting with 18-year-old last month

Arsenal have been linked with Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe throughout the summer, reportedly having a bid of around £87m rejected. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked but Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has gone to extreme lengths to secure his signature.

The French international enjoyed a rise to prominence last season as he helped Monaco to the Ligue 1 title and to the Champions League semi-finals, and his asking price is believed to be in excess of £100m. But despite Arsenal spending £44m on Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, the Londoners are still reportedly able to sign the teenager.

Real Madrid are keen on Mbappe but aren’t likely to break the bank to try and squeeze him into the side. Head coach Zinedine Zidane won La Liga and the Champions League with Los Blancos last season and won’t want to make drastic changes to the squad as a result. Mbappe is believed to be interested in Real but was worried how much he’d actually play for the Spanish giants.

The 18-year-old scored 15 goals and made eight assists in 29 Ligue 1 games as Monaco finally ended Paris Saint-Germain’s monopoly in the division, while netting six goals in as many Champions League starts. Kylian Mbappe is 3/1 to join Arsenal this summer.
