The transfer window has begun in England and various pieces of news and rumours regarding players’ movements are popping up on a daily basis.
When it comes to Arsenal , different media outlets have different things to report. For example, Daily Mail have the Gunners linked with Paris Saint-Germain teenager Yacine Adli. The report claims Adli has rejected an offer of a professional contract from the French champions and is now set to sign a three-year deal with Arsenal, with an extension option for another two years.
Adli is a 17-year-old midfielder, regarded as one of the most promising talents in Europe, and Manchester City are also said to be interested in his signature. Given his two years at PSG, Emery should be well-acquainted with this young player and his qualities.
Sky Sports quote La Gazetta dello Sport in saying that the deal to bring Stephan Lichtsteiner to the Emirates is very close to being completed and it should be officially announced within a few days. The 34-year-old Switzerland captain is out of contract at Juventus and is set to bring some experience and leadership into the back line of the team.
They also quote Premium Sport journalist Andersihno Marques who claims that the Gunners are interested in the services of Shakhtar Donetsk’s Bernard, but reports elsewhere say they might face competition from Liverpool for his signature. The 25-year-old winger has been heavily tipped to leave Shakhtar this summer, but if there’s any truth in those stories, it will be interesting to see what he can bring to this Arsenal team given that the main problems lie at the back.
Similar to that of Lichtsteiner, the deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos is edging closer according to reports in various outlets.
It’s going to be very interesting to see the squad at Emery’s disposal come the start of 2018/19.
