There are a lot of times with Arsenal Football Club where it’s hard to keep up with proceedings – and even that may be an understatement. One minute we’re led to believe that things are going in on direction, and then the next, there’s a report out there that indicates the exact opposite. It’s because of this that we try not to get too excited about what’s to come, because there is often a sting in the tail waiting around the next corner.
Is he coming, or not?
Case in point: Wilfried Zaha. We all want to believe in our heart of hearts that he’s going to be making his way to Arsenal Football Club sooner rather than later, but it just doesn’t come across as being a realistic thought process right now. The negotiations are seemingly out there for everyone to see and dissect, and right now, it would appear as if they’re going south pretty quickly.
Palace are more than happy to drag their feet on this if the Gunners don’t meet their valuation of the Ivory Coast international, and they have every right to do so. Zaha is one of the most exciting players in the Premier League today and if Arsenal are really serious about bringing him in, there needs to be some commitment and investment from the men upstairs. If not, then what are we even doing here?
This is quickly turning into an embarrassing saga, because either way, we aren’t convinced Arsenal are going to come out of this looking great. As we’ve said before there is a real danger of the club spending way too much time focusing on the Zaha situation, and not enough time on the other areas of the pitch that need some drastic improvements. If that does turn out to be the case, then Emery could be left with very little to scream and shout about.
We’re holding out hope that this bargaining tactic from Palace is just that, a bargaining tactic. If that winds up being the case then we could be in for a deal quicker than most of us may have initially thought, but of course, it can so quickly go in the opposite direction. For now, all we can do is recommend that fans stay away from the dreaded tabloids as much as is humanly possible.
Are Arsenal any closer to signing Wilfried Zaha?
