The rumour mill continues to swirl, as Arsenal edge closer and closer towards securing their first few transfers of the January transfer window. Of course, we have absolutely no idea what those transfers are going to be or who is going to be leaving or coming in, but that’s part of the fun.
A new player enters
One of the latest stories that we’ve heard is about Yannick Carrasco, who seems to have been linked to every club under the sun over the course of the last few weeks. That makes sense given that he’d be leaving Dalian Yifang, who are a team that many casual fans probably haven’t even heard of before. That’s not necessarily their fault, either – it’s just that Chinese football hasn’t quite reached the mainstream as much as some would have you believe.
The 25 year old would be an intriguing addition to the setup at the Emirates, mainly because he’s never played in English football before. While he has had successful stints with Monaco and Atletico Madrid that still isn’t enough to prepare him for what’s ahead in England, and that’s just the harsh truth of the matter. The Belgian international has made his money over in China now, though, and appears to be more than prepared for an extended run in Europe.
Could it happen?
Carrasco would slot into the system as a winger, and it feels like, to us, he could make some serious waves with the Gunners. With Aubameyang and Lacazette to slot the ball into he could serve as a breath of fresh air – but he needs to be given time to embed into the system properly. Unai Emery isn’t going to hand him everything, and it’ll be interesting to see whether or not he can handle that.
Carrasco may not be at the top of many fans list when it comes to potential transfers, but it’s still a potentially game changing move for the Gunners. Again, they aren’t the only club interested, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Will Arsenal sign Yannick Carrasco?
