Saliba happy playing for Nice 0

Posted on February 09, 2021 by Veselin Trajkovic

William Saliba appears to have lashed out at Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta for not giving him a chance.

The young defender arrived to the club for £27m in 2019. The team was in a crisis regarding the centre-back department at the time, and his arrival was seen as a significant promise for the future. He was sent back to Saint-Etienne on a season-long loan with the hope being he would have gained valuable first-team experience before coming back to the Emirates in 2020. However, the season in France was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Arteta later judged him not to have matured sufficiently to wear the Arsenal shirt yet.

Why Arsenal’s loan exits are so important 0

The January transfer window is officially open and thus begins the month-long speculation surrounding just about every player in world football. That’ll especially be the case in the Premier League because, as we know, it is so often regarded as the very best division across Europe – and potentially even the entire sport.

The next few weeks are going to be really important for so many clubs but we feel as if that’s especially the case for Arsenal. After a dreadful run of form back at the start of December, they finally seem to be putting the right pieces in place for another run at the top six. You could argue that may even be pushed up to the top four, but we wouldn’t suggest getting ahead of yourselves.

William Saliba is set to return to France and join OGC Nice on loan for the rest of the season, according to Sky Sports.

The Gunners signed the young defender from Saint-Etienne in 2019 for a reported fee of €30 million (£27m) and sent him back immediately on loan to rack up some first-team experience. However, the 2019-20 campaign was cut short in France and Arsenal weren’t happy with the total amount of time spent on the pitch with his former club.

Saliba desperate to leave on loan in January 0

As relayed by the Mirror, William Saliba is desperate to leave Arsenal on loan in January in order to get regular first-team opportunities.

The Gunners signed the 19-year-old defender in the summer of 2019, paying a reported fee of £27 million – not a small amount for a player of that age with very little experience, even if his previous performances for Saint-Etienne were mature. A part of the agreement was a season-long loan back to the Ligue 1 side, which would have suited Arsenal fine had not the Covid-19 outbreak caused the season in France to be cut short, limiting Saliba’s number of appearances to just 12.

Arsenal are set to sent William Saliba on a season-long loan to a club in the Championship, according to multiple sources. The 19-year-old defender spent 2019/20 at his former club Saint-Etienne, but manager Mikel Arteta has labeled the time he spent there ‘a year lost’. Saliba played only 17 games, with the season in France being cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Arsenal’s William Saliba statement 0

The ongoing saga surrounding Saint-Etienne and Arsenal defender William Saliba has been well documented, with both sides attempting to come to terms on a deal of some description. A week ago, the Gunners released the following statement on the matter.

“Throughout our discussions with St Etienne, our aim has been to protect the welfare of William Saliba as well as the interests of Arsenal Football Club, while honouring the terms of the loan.

“Despite the loan ending on June 30, we were willing to find a way for William to play in the [French] cup final on July 24, despite having no contractual obligation to do so.

Arsenal tussle with Saint-Etienne over Saliba loan 0

Arsenal signed William Saliba from Saint-Etienne last summer for a reported fee of £27 million, with an agreement in place for the player to remain at the Ligue 1 club on loan for the 2019/20 campaign.

The French top flight has been ended prematurely due to the Covid-19 pandemic with the 19-year-old playing 12 games. The cup finals are, however, still to go ahead, with Saint-Etienne poised to face champions Paris Saint-Germain for the Coupe de France trophy on July 24th. Saliba was due to arrive to north London at the end of June, and as Saint-Etienne head coach Claude Puel had planned for the defender to play in that final, talks were held between the clubs over a loan extension which would allow it; but in the end, an agreement wasn’t reached.

We’ve been waiting a while for a few major signings at the Emirates, and now, it’s finally come to fruition. As reported by BBC, Arsenal have been able to secure the signings of both William Saliba and Dani Ceballos. Saliba has joined for a fee of around £27 million and will be loaned back out to Saint-Etienne for the upcoming season, whereas Dani Ceballos will be arriving on loan from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Saliba to Arsenal on track, Saint-Etienne official confrms 0

The transfer of William Saliba to Arsenal is “on track”, Saint-Etienne supervisory board president Bernard Caiazzo has told Le Progres.

It appears that the Gunners have beaten a late attempt by Tottenham Hotspur at snatching the deal, even though Spurs reportedly offered more money. Saliba’s wish to come to the Emirates instead eventually prevailed.

This is the first time that an official source has been quoted on the matter, though links between Arsenal and the 18-year-old defender have been reported a number of times before. A few days ago, a report by Sky Sports said that the deal was close, but that the Ligue 1 side had been waiting for a bid from Spurs before making a final decision. They followed that up with the news that the deal had been agreed.

Deals for Ceballos and Saliba “close” 0

As reported by Sky Sports, Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal with Real Madrid to sign Dani Ceballos on loan.

Arsenal’s fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in taking the young midfielder to north London on a permanent basis, but apparently, a temporary move to Arsenal suits both Real and the player better. Los Blancos are keen on keeping the prospect of Ceballos playing for them again in the future alive following his excellent displays at the U-21 European Championship this year, while Ceballos feels he would have more first-team opportunities at the Emirates than at Spurs, and he also feels he may yet have a future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
