Should Arsenal make eleventh hour bid for Suarez? 0

If there was a time Arsenal should attempt to sign Luis Suarez it would be now. The Liverpool striker is holding talks with Barcelona over a summer move, but could manager Arsene Wenger make the most of his current situation and keep him in the Premier League?

Despite the odds being against him and his poor disciplinary record, Suarez’s 31 league goals last season almost delivered a title for the Merseyside outfit. Wenger wanted him last summer despite him being suspended for biting, making a failed £40M offer.

Arsenal fans will be excited to see their young forward Joel Campbell do so well at the World Cup with Costa Rica. He terrorised the defences of Italy and Uruguay, before producing a quieter performance against England in the last group game.

The youngster who celebrates his 22nd birthday tomorrow has shown just what he can do against top opposition at the World Cup. His pace and power are two attributes that should serve him well in the Premier League, if as expected the Gunners give him a chance in the first team next season.

England suffered a 2-1 defeated against Uruguay in their second group game of the World Cup, which leaves them on the verge of exiting the competition at the group stage for the first time since 1958.

With changes likely to be made in the England squad after the World Cup could Arsenal hold the key to better performances for England?

The two Arsenal players that are in the Three Lions squad have been highly unlucky with injuries. Midfielder Jack Wilshere has long been regarded as a future England star, but injuries again curtailed his development towards the end of last season.

Since then, he’s set the Premier League alight with 17 goals in 11 games.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has recently criticised the way Arsenal have acted in their pursuit for Liverpool’s controversial striker Luis Suarez.

After manager Arsene Wenger made a bid just £1 over his £40M release clause, which forced Liverpool to inform Suarez of the interest, Rodgers was not amused.

‘I have to admit I was surprised by their bid of £40m and £1. I always associated Arsenal as a club with class. They may be playing a game, but we will just move on and do our own work. We do not want to sell. The two bids are nowhere near where what Luis would be worth.’
