Is the £40million summer transfer budget for Arsenal a joke? 1

Posted on February 06, 2019 by David Nugent

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery will have just £40million to spend on incoming transfers this summer, according to the Daily Mirror. If this unconfirmed report is true, then Arsenal may have major trouble returning to their glory days in the near future.

Emery needs a bigger budget

Considering the amount of money that Arsenal receive in television revenue alone, a figure of £40million to spend in the transfer market for a club the size of Arsenal is a joke. The Gunners have gradually slipped down the Premier League pecking order in recent years.

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal and London rivals Chelsea are both interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira in the January transfer window.

The report claims that the Red Devils are set to cash in on the Brazilian international, as his contract expires next summer. United have an option to extend the deal by a year, but reportedly favour selling Pereira in January.

Not yet fulfilled his potential at United

When Pereira joined United in 2014 from PSV Eindhoven, he was regarded as a bright young prospect. In fact, at the time he was considered one of the most talented youngsters in the European game.

According to the Daily Mirror, Everton are monitoring Danny Welbeck’s contract situation at Arsenal, as the forward’s contract creeps closer to ending. The forward is in the last year of his deal with the north London club and there has been no news of contract negotiations regarding the striker.

Welbeck looks to be surplus to requirements and can discuss a move to a foreign club in January. However, the Gunners may contemplate trying to sell the striker in the January transfer window, although he could still prove to be an asset to the Gunners.

Why were Arsenal players shocked by Ramsey omission? 0

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal players were left shocked by Unai Emery’s decision to drop Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey to the bench for the 3-2 defeat at Chelsea on Saturday evening.

Ramsey came on to the field for Mesut Ozil with 20 minutes left on the clock at Stamford Bridge. However, it seems his omission from the starting line-up caused a stir among the Gunners players.

Ramsey is by no means a certain starter

I am not sure why the Arsenal players were shocked by the fact that Ramsey was not starting against Chelsea. The Welsh midfielder did not exactly cover himself in glory against Manchester City in the opening game, so his omission was not a hard decision.

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal’s Spanish international defender Nacho Monreal could be set for a move to Real Sociedad this summer.

The Basque club have sold another Spanish international Alvaro Odriozola to Real Madrid for a reported fee of £30million, so they need a replacement for the youngster. Spanish football journalist Kike Marin is the person responsible for reporting of Real Sociedad’s interest in signing Monreal.

Not in Unai Emery’s plans

The Mirror claims that Monreal is not looking to leave the north London club this summer. In fact, that it could be a battle to persuade the defender to leave North London in the near future.

Oxlade-Chamberlain 2/ 1 to join Liverpool after rejecting contract offer 1

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has turned down the Gunners latest offer of a new deal. The England international’s contract now has less than a year left to run on it and Liverpool are odds of 2/ 1 to sign the midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.

The midfielder reportedly has turned down two offers over £125,000 per-week to stay in north London. The Gunners are expected to offer him an improved deal this week. However, according to the Mirror report, he has told Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger he will not sign a new deal with the Gunners.

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal have had a big money bid for Dortmund’s highly-rated winger Ousmane Dembele. The 20-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in the European game. It seems the Gunners are one of the teams hoping to sign the winger.

Arsenal are reportedly still in talks to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar. However, a deal still does not seem close. Dembele looks to be a viable alternative, although the 20-year-old is attracting attention from elsewhere.

A very good debut campaign at Dortmund

Arsenal struggling to sell unwanted players 1

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are struggling to get rid of some of their unwanted stars this summer because of their high salaries.

The Gunners have a number of players that they are looking to sell this summer. The likes of Jack Wilshere, Lucas Perez, Kieran Gibbs, David Ospina, Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson and Calum Chambers are all seemingly surplus to requirement in north London.

The players seem happy to leave the club, as they are unlikely to feature heavily for the first-team next season.
However, there seems to be one major sticking point for their exit, their high salaries at the Emirates Stadium. The players seem unwilling to take a pay-cut, even if it means regular action elsewhere in the Premier League.

Olivier Giroud could be off to Dortmund 0

Posted on July 16, 2017 by David Nugent

According to the Daily Mirror, German giants Borussia Dortmund have entered into formal talks over signing Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer.

The 30-year-old had been strongly linked with a £20million move to the Gunners Premier League rivals Everton. However, it seems that Dortmund could be set to land the striker, as they are reportedly set to sell star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea for a fee in the region of £65million.

Despite the reported talks with BVB, Everton are still the favourites to sign the French striker at odds of 10/11. The Merseysiders will no doubt be monitoring the situation carefully, as they look for a like-for-like replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

This could story has rumbled on for the last few weeks, yes it is the Arsenal chasing Monaco winger Thomas Lemar. According to the Daily Mirror, the Gunners are now confident of doing a deal with the French champions worth £45million.

The report claims that the young winger could sign a contract that will see him earn around £100,000 per week in north London. The Gunners are reported to have had two bids rejected by Monaco for Lemar so far, but the two clubs are now reportedly in negotiations to come to a compromise deal.
