On Sunday, Arsenal suffered a shock 3-2 defeat against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners losing is not a major surprise, as they have shown they are prone to slip-ups at unexpected times.
However, the majority of those slip-ups are away from the Emirates. The team from north London are usually strong on home soil. In fact, Unai Emery’s team had won their previous eight home games in all competitions.
A poor defensive display
It must be said that Palace produced a good display and deserve credit for their victory. It’s tough to win at the Emirates and the Eagles produced an impressive display against Emery’s team. .......Read more here.....

On Sunday afternoon, Chelsea and Arsenal played out a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge. The biggest talking about the game turned out to be a late red card for Chelsea defender David Luiz.
Chelsea made a bright start to the game, with former Blues goalkeeper Petr Cech having to produce good saves from Victor Moses and then Pedro. The home side threatened again, as Cesc Fabregas played a one-two with Willian before the Spaniard fire an effort towards goal only for a combination of Danny Welbeck and Cech at the near post to snub out the danger. .......Read more here.....

According to ESPN journalist James Dodd, representatives of Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk have met with Arsenal hierarchy about the Dutchman moving to north London.
Arsenal fan Dodd tweeted: “#AFC have met with Van Dijk & his reps but I’m fairly sure all the big PL clubs have. I guess Saints would rather sell to us than Liverpool.”
Van Dijk is one of the most in-demand stars in the Premier League, having been linked with moves to Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea. However, Southampton insists that their star defender is not for sale, despite the Saints signing compatriot Wesley Hoedt earlier this week. .......Read more here.....

Arsenal haven’t kept a clean sheet in the Premier League since October, and now have to contend with no Shkodran Mustafi at the heart of the defence with the German international currently out with a hamstring injury. The Gunners next travel to the Etihad Stadium ahead of Sunday’s trip to face a back-to-form Manchester City, but can they cope with Mustafi?
Gabriel Paulista will deputise for the injured defender, having started at the heart of the backline alongside Laurent Koscielny in Tuesday’s defeat to Everton, but Arsenal aren’t shutting sides out in recent weeks. The Gunners have conceded in each of their last 11 games in all competitions (15 goals), and could fare even worse without such a key player in the side. .......Read more here.....

According to reports over the weekend, Arsenal were interested in signing Porto’s £40million rated Algerian international playmaker Yacine Brahimi. The Daily Express are now reporting that Everton have made a bid for the 26-year-old star.
Should Arsenal fight it out with the newly loaded Toffees, or should they concentrate on bringing in a centre-back, say Shkodran Mustafi?
Brahimi is another attacking midfielder
We all know that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger loves an attacking midfielder, almost to the point of abandoning the idea of bringing in a striker or a centre-back. Reports would suggest that Wenger is close to signing a centre-back, sensible right. .......Read more here.....

According to Plaza Deportiva, Arsenal’s deal to sign Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi hasn’t taken off as the Gunners are yet to make an official bid. Reports in the last few weeks had suggested Arsenal and Mustafi had agreed personal terms, but Valencia still haven’t received an acceptable bid from the London club despite their desperation for a defender.
Arsenal have less than two weeks until the summer transfer window closes but they only have two fit centre-backs and one senior defender who has been afforded a late summer holiday. Their first game of the new season could hardly have been worse either with Liverpool putting four goals past them at the Emirates Stadium, so the pressure is on Wenger to shore up the backline before the Gunners are left behind in the title race. .......Read more here.....

As another inquest commences on an opening weekend defeat for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger’s poor transfer policy, Sky Sports have decided to give Gunners fans to false hope that the club may actually try and sign a centre-back.
On Monday night, (yes, I know a bit late!) Sky was reporting that Arsenal were showing an interest in Bayer Leverkusen star Omer Toprak and Fenerbahce centre-back Simon Kjaer.
This comes after reports that Arsene Wenger is looking behind the back of his sofa for money to put towards a deal to sign Valencia centre-back Shkodran Mustafi. I bet Wenger has lost the club wallet again. .......Read more here.....
