Sami Khedira set for Juventus move 0

Posted on May 26, 2015 by David Nugent

Real Madrid and Germany defensive midfielder Sami Khedira is set to have a medical at Italian giants Juventus later today, according to the Daily Star. The former-Stuttgart player has previously been touted as a possible transfer target for Arsenal.

If the reports are correct then the midfielder is currently in Turn discussing terms on a four-year-deal with the Italian champions.

Khedira has struggled with injuries throughout his career at Real Madrid, but when he is fit is a very good player and is available on a free transfer this summer. I have to say I really do believe that Arsenal could have missed out on a good deal with Khedira.

Premier League giants Arsenal have received some very good news as Schalke boss Roberto Di Matteo admitted that Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira was unlikely to move to Veltins Arena.

The Germany star has already made it clear that he plans to leave los Blancos when his contract expires at the end of the season and it was believed the Miners were closing in on his signature.

However, while Schalke coach Roberto Di Matteo admitted interest in the experienced footballer, he has all but ruled out the possibility of winning the race for the 27-year-old.

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has moved to admit that he has tried to persuade international teammate Sami Khedira to leave Real Madrid in favour of a switch to the Emirates.

The Germany international will be out of contract in the summer at Santiago Bernabeu and chances are that he will be leaving los Blancos in search of first team football either in January or at the end of the season.

Khedira has been repeatedly linked with a move to Arsenal and with the Gunners on the lookout for a new holding midfielder, the Premier League giants are likely to be interested.

According to the Daily Star, Real Madrid midfielders Sami Khedira and Asier Illarramendi have been training with the reserves squad, fuelling rumours of an exit when the January transfer window opens.

Reports are suggesting Arsenal will make another approach for Khedira due to the form of holding midfielders Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini. Arsenal failed in their attempts to sign the German international in the summer, and have also been linked with teammate Asier Illarramendi on loan.

According to the Daily Express, Arsenal look set to battle it out with Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United for the signature of West Ham’s New Zealand international centre-back Winston Reid.

Reportedly the Hammers could consider selling Reid for a cut-price fee in January, as Reid is out of contract with the East end club next summer, so could start to discuss terms with foreign clubs in January.

However, it now seems that a host of English top-flight clubs, including Arsenal could be set to make bids for the Danish defender earlier than that.

Will Flamini’s latest error force Wenger to shop for commanding holding midfielder? 1

Another error from an Arsenal holding midfielder could well be the last straw for manager Arsene Wenger, with the January transfer window potentially seeing a new arrival coming in to oust the underperforming and ageing Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini.

Flamini cost his side a goal on the weekend, after being caught in possession deep into his own half. He Frenchman was intercepted, and the subsequent move saw Nacer Chadli put North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 up in the derby.

Arsenal miss out on two more players 3

The latest reports are suggesting that neither Sami Khedira nor Kostas Manolas will be joining Arsenal this summer. While the Real Madrid star appears set to remain at Santiago Bernabeu, the Greek defender is now widely tipped to joins AS Roma instead.

First of all, let me say that we cannot actually be sure that the Gunners indeed tried and sign the two players, but with a number of reputable media outlets reporting interest and Arsene Wenger himself admitting he was on the lookout for a central defender and defensive midfielder, there must be some truth in the rumours.

Southampton star interesting Arsenal 4

According to the Metro, Arsenal could make a move for Southampton’s defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama. The Kenyan star made a name for himself in the SPL with Celtic, before making a £12.5million move to the south coast.

Mixed Fortunes

Wanyama has enjoyed mixed fortunes at St Marys in his year at the club. He made 24 Premier League appearances last season, as injury disrupted his debut season in the top-flight slightly. However, the midfielder still looks a powerhouse midfielder.

Arsene Wenger: “Khedira deal was never a starter” 3

Posted on August 07, 2014 by Crippy Cooke

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed their proposed deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira was never on this summer, despite the 27-year-old being 8/15 to join the Londoners.

The German international had been linked with the Gunners, despite winning the Copa Del Rey and Champions League with Real. Reports suggested the arrival of Toni Kroos from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich would see Khedira sold, but that hasn’t been the case.

“I don’t know who has put Khedira on the market – is it his agent or the press?” said Wenger. “We were never close to signing him. Jack Wilshere is back fit and in midfield we have offensive midfielders and quite a few box-to-box players.”

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal could be set close to completing a £24million deal for highly-rated Sporting Lisbon central midfielder William Carvalho. The Mail claims that the deal is being widely reported in the Portuguese press.

Release Clause

The youngster has a release clause of £37million in his contract with the team from the Portuguese capital, but Portuguese paper Ojogo claim that Sporting are now willing to let one of their key assets leave for £24million.
