The ongoing saga surrounding Saint-Etienne and Arsenal defender William Saliba has been well documented, with both sides attempting to come to terms on a deal of some description. A week ago, the Gunners released the following statement on the matter.
“Throughout our discussions with St Etienne, our aim has been to protect the welfare of William Saliba as well as the interests of Arsenal Football Club, while honouring the terms of the loan.
“Despite the loan ending on June 30, we were willing to find a way for William to play in the [French] cup final on July 24, despite having no contractual obligation to do so. .......Read more here.....

Arsenal signed William Saliba from Saint-Etienne last summer for a reported fee of £27 million, with an agreement in place for the player to remain at the Ligue 1 club on loan for the 2019/20 campaign.
The French top flight has been ended prematurely due to the Covid-19 pandemic with the 19-year-old playing 12 games. The cup finals are, however, still to go ahead, with Saint-Etienne poised to face champions Paris Saint-Germain for the Coupe de France trophy on July 24th. Saliba was due to arrive to north London at the end of June, and as Saint-Etienne head coach Claude Puel had planned for the defender to play in that final, talks were held between the clubs over a loan extension which would allow it; but in the end, an agreement wasn’t reached. .......Read more here.....

The transfer of William Saliba to Arsenal is “on track”, Saint-Etienne supervisory board president Bernard Caiazzo has told Le Progres.
It appears that the Gunners have beaten a late attempt by Tottenham Hotspur at snatching the deal, even though Spurs reportedly offered more money. Saliba’s wish to come to the Emirates instead eventually prevailed.
This is the first time that an official source has been quoted on the matter, though links between Arsenal and the 18-year-old defender have been reported a number of times before. A few days ago, a report by Sky Sports said that the deal was close, but that the Ligue 1 side had been waiting for a bid from Spurs before making a final decision. They followed that up with the news that the deal had been agreed. .......Read more here.....

As reported by Sky Sports, Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal with Real Madrid to sign Dani Ceballos on loan.
Arsenal’s fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in taking the young midfielder to north London on a permanent basis, but apparently, a temporary move to Arsenal suits both Real and the player better. Los Blancos are keen on keeping the prospect of Ceballos playing for them again in the future alive following his excellent displays at the U-21 European Championship this year, while Ceballos feels he would have more first-team opportunities at the Emirates than at Spurs, and he also feels he may yet have a future at the Santiago Bernabeu. .......Read more here.....

Arsenal seem to be actively looking for additions to their fragile back line, which conceded 51 goals in the 2018/19 Premier League season.
However, while it seems that an experienced, defensive leader of top quality is what the team needs, they are reportedly interested in the 18-year-old William Saliba from Saint-Etienne, according to Goal.com. Not only that, but the report names the youngster as the club’s “main defensive target”. .......Read more here.....

Italian media outlet Calciomercato has learned that Ligue 1 side Saint Etienne have been showing interest in Arsenal forgotten man Yaya Sanogo.
The French forward hasn’t even made a single matchday squad since returning from a somewhat successful loan spell at Charlton Athletic and it is clear that his long-term future at the Emirates is in doubt.
It is difficult to comprehend why Sanogo was not allowed to leave in the summer transfer window, but it appears that he will certainly be leaving the club in January. .......Read more here.....

Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong looks set to leave Arsenal in the January transfer window having failed to play himself back into the first team plans of Arsene Wenger after returning from a loan spell at Fulham.
Having showed some promise during his time at Craven Cottage, the Ghanaian midfielder was expected to be given a chance to impress at the Emirates, but he has found first team opportunities hard to come by.
Frimpong has failed to make a single competitive appearance for the Gunners this season, while he only made the match squad on five occasions, and he has been reportedly told that he can leave the club in January. .......Read more here.....

France international goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier has been linked with Arsenal this summer. His asking price is said to be around £6M.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has long been a fan of the 26-year old. He previously tired to procure his signature a number of years ago, but a deal failed to materialise.
Ruffier signed for Saint-Etienne from newly-promoted Ligue One side AS Monaco in 2011 – making 128 appearances in six-years for his old side.
Fiorentina and Roma are two other sides said to be looking at procuring his signature this summer, but the Saint-Etienne man is said to favour the Premier League over Italy. .......Read more here.....
