Aubameyang joint-winner of the Premier League Golden Boot 0

On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal defeated Burnley 3-1 at Turf Moor in the Premier League. In the end, the result did not matter, as the Gunners still finished fifth-place in the table, a point behind north London rivals Tottenham.

However, one fact that did matter in the clash in Lancashire was that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace. The double saw the former Dortmund star finished as the joint-top scorer in the Premier League this season with Liverpool pair Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah on 22 league goals for the season. It is a great honour to win the Golden Boot, but it will come as little surprise to Arsenal fans.

Nobody can dispute that Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool was a great game of football. It was all that it promised to be – despite yielding only two goals, which is an uncharacteristically small number for these two teams.

Another thing the contest has done is proved a few people’s views on Arsenal wrong. As you might recall, former Arsenal player Paul Merson recently said he expected Liverpool to ‘rip Arsenal apart’.

Cech produced a superb save on ten minutes. Emre Can rolled a cross to the far post to Mohamed Salah, who looked set to score, only for Cech to save. The Gunners defence then cleared their lines.
