Transfer rumours: Arsenal ‘explore’ Marco Asensio transfer 0

Posted on June 13, 2022 by Veselin Trajkovic

The most obvious sign of a transfer window approaching is, of course, the multitude of transfer rumours which most outlets, frankly, just throw against the wall and hope that at least something stays on.

Many reasonably reliable journalists have reported about Arsenal’s interest in Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans as manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu seek to strengthen the attacking and midfield ranks. However, there are always more of those stories which intelligent people find hard to believe, and one such has come from the Mirror a few days ago. Apparently, the Gunners are currently ‘exploring’ the possibility of signing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid.

Rumours: Hazard snubs Arsenal talks? 0

The closer we get to the opening of the summer transfer window, the more strange rumours become – that has always been the case and this year is no exception. One of the wilder ones that have recently emerged suggests Arsenal were keen on signing Eden Hazard from Real Madrid, on an initial loan with an option to buy, but now French outlet Sport claim the Belgian winger has refused to even talk to the Gunners.

Arsenal face tough Nkunku competition 0

Obviously in pursuit of a striker to add to their ranks this summer, Arsenal have recently been credited with interest in RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku.

The 24-year-old Frenchman has been on impressive form this season. This season, he’s managed 16 goals and 13 assists in 28 Bundesliga appearances. It’s certainly not easy for a striker to make a name of himself in a league boasting the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland, but Nkunku is certainly doing it.

Arsenal to battle Liverpool for Villarreal winger? 0

According to Spanish outlet El Desmarque, Arsenal are one of the two clubs to have made contact with Villarreal over the possibility of signing Yeremy Pino. The other is Liverpool, though Real Madrid are also said to be keeping an eye out for developments.

In case you don’t follow the game in Spain too closely, Pino is a 19-year-old winger who prefers to play on the right but is fully capable of playing on the left too, as well as through the middle as a central attacking midfielder. Having previously gone through the works at two different academies, he joined Villarreal’s youth setup in 2019 and was promoted to the first-team squad a year later. Since then, he’s gone on to score 14 goals for the club, along with contributing five assists, in 71 appearances across all competitions.

Transfer rumours: Saka, Torreira 0

There has been talk lately about the apparent uncertainty when it comes to the future of Bukayo Saka, with the winger said to be willing to consider moving away from the club unless the Gunners qualify for next season’s Champions League. Come the end of this season, the winger will have two years remaining on his contract, and though the club are believed to be keen to reward his recent contribution with improved terms and prolonged deal, Saka himself is just as cautious about recommitting as he was in the spring of 2020, when a long saga ended with him signing his current contract.

William Saliba attracts summer interest 0

According to Calciomercato, William Saliba is attracting a lot of interest from Italy and Spain at the moment.

Saliba is a curious case. Having arrived for €30 million from Saint-Etienne back in the summer of 2019, the 20-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for Arsenal in a competitive match. Mikel Arteta spoke about his development on several occasions throughout the last two years, always indicating that he didn’t consider the young defender to be ready to play in the Premier League. Things don’t seem to have changed even 30 months into his time on the club’s books.

CONFIRMED: Arsenal sign Martin Odegaard 0

Posted on August 20, 2021 by Veselin Trajkovic

Arsenal have completed and confirmed the signing of Martin Odegaard on a permanent transfer from Real Madrid.

Odegaard joined Real’s Castilla side back in 2015 from Stromsgodset, and two years later he was promoted to the first team. However, he was never given a proper chance with the Spanish giants, and in the four years that have gone by since, he only appeared in eight La Liga matches in the famous white shirt.

Instead, he had loan spells, first with Heerenveen, then Vitesse, Real Sociedad, and eventually Arsenal in the second half of last season. The 22-year-old played for the Gunners in 20 matches in all competitions, scoring and assisting twice apiece.

Arsenal closing in on Martin Odegaard 0

There has apparently been a major breakthrough in Arsenal’s pursuit of a permanent deal for Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid. Multiple sources, including the likes of David Ornstein and James McNicholas of The Athletic, Sky Sports and Fabrizio Romano, claim the talks between the two clubs are in a very advanced stage and that a total agreement is now very close. It’s not completely done; there is still work to do, but Arsenal are hoping to have the Norwegian playmaker registered by midday on Friday, in order to have him available for the Chelsea clash at the Emirates on Sunday.

Transfers: Abraham, Odegaard, Maddison 0

The transfer window is now entering its final weeks, with Arsenal set to get the 2021-22 Premier League season rolling against newly promoted Brentford on Friday. The Gunners have done some decent business on incoming deals, with the arrivals of left-back Nuno Tavares from Benfica and midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht followed by that of in-demand defender Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion. Around £75 million has been spent on these three players (£50m on White alone), and further incomings will now depend on whether the club are able to shift some of the players who aren’t considered necessary in Mikel Arteta’s squad for the future.

Arsenal maintain Maddison interest 0

Arsenal remain firmly interested in signing James Maddison from Leicester City this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The situation is however, not as straightforward as it could have been. The Foxes are apparently just as reluctant to see the attacking midfielder leave the King Power Stadium and will not agree to allow it to happen for anything less than £70 million. For Arsenal, that seems a bit steep at the moment, following the arrival of Ben White for £50m, apart from midfielder Albert Sambi Lonkonga and left-back Nuno Tavares.
