Arsenal have been credited with strong interest in Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk as manager Mikel Arteta and newly appointed director of football Edu seek to add a wide attacker to the mix. However, Shakhtar director Darijo Srna recently revealed that the Ukrainian club are looking for a fee of around €100 million for the 21-year-old, comparing him to the likes of Jack Grealish, Antony and Jadon Sancho.

The Gunners are unlikely to pursue a deal for that kind of money, and according to Portuguese outlet Record, they’re considering a swoop for FC Porto star Pepe instead after deciding against making a move for him this summer.

In his Monday column for The Athletic, David Ornstein shares some insights into the contract situation of the Hungary international, including the terms of his potential departure from the Austrian club.

Ornstein confirms that the release clause set in his contract is, as reported, set at €25 million (around £22.5m), which is ridiculously low for a player of such quality. However, it’s not that simple.

Arsenal are reportedly on the long list of clubs keeping a close eye of RB Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai.

Having gone through the ranks at Videoton and MTK in his homeland of Hungary, Szoboszlai moved to Austria in 2017 to join the ranks of Salzburg’s Under-18 side. He spent the following season on loan at FC Liefering and returned to Salzburg in the summer of 2018. Since then, he has gone on to represent the reigning Austrian Bundesliga champions on 74 occasions in all competitions, directly contributing to 55 goals (22 goals, 33 assists) so far. This season, he has five goals and nine assists in 13 games at the moment. A fast wide player, the 20-year-old is mostly deployed on the left side of midfield, though he can play more centrally if need be, as well as on the right. He has also played as a wide forward. Packing a truly formidable shot, he is a fantastic set-piece taker.
