Is Hector Herrera the answer? 0

Posted on January 11, 2019 by Harry Kettle

We’ve all heard about the endless rumblings when it comes to who is going where, and a lot of us are sick of it already. Of course, that doesn’t make it any less important, because the January transfer window has the potential to completely change the dynamic of the entire Premier League campaign. As a result we have to take rumours seriously to a certain extent, with the latest one that is doing the rounds being the potential sale of Hector Herrera to Arsenal Football Club.

Portuguese media outlet Ojogo reports that Arsenal scouts were in Portugal this week, watching Sporting in action against Rio Ave.

Arsene Wenger sent a representative to the Estadio do Dragao to watch long-term target Danilo, who put in another masterful display for his team.

The 26-year-old Portugal international was praised for his box-to-box efforts and was underlined as a top performer for his side despite missing a sitter.

Danilo has thus continued a great run of form and once again has the north London outfit on alert over a possible move. Arsene Wenger is keen to solve the long-standing midfield issue and has identified Danilo and Sporting’s William Carvalho as alternatives for each other.

London-based club Arsenal are thought to be hot on the trail of two Porto star performers, according to the Portuguese media.

The Premier League heavyweights are thought to have sent the scouts to Estadio do Dragao this weekend, for Porto’s clash with Moreirense in order to monitor the two targets – Andre Silva and Danilo Pereira.

The in-form striker Andre Silva has been putting in some remarkable displays for his team throughout the season thus far with numbers speaking volumes of his ability.

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are interested in signing Nice’s Portuguese right-back Ricardo Pereira, who is rated in the £20million-bracket. The 23-year-old is on loan from Portuguese club Porto. Pereira is in his second year of his loan spell and has impressed for the French leaders.

Nice are currently top of Ligue One, ahead of the likes of Monaco and PSG. Pereira can play in either full-back position and also played as a winger earlier in his career. One of his main attributes is regarded as his pace. He is considered to be one of the top defenders in Ligue One so far this season.

Should Arsenal pursue a deal for Yacine Brahimi? 2

According to reports over the weekend, Arsenal were interested in signing Porto’s £40million rated Algerian international playmaker Yacine Brahimi. The Daily Express are now reporting that Everton have made a bid for the 26-year-old star.

Should Arsenal fight it out with the newly loaded Toffees, or should they concentrate on bringing in a centre-back, say Shkodran Mustafi?

Brahimi is another attacking midfielder

We all know that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger loves an attacking midfielder, almost to the point of abandoning the idea of bringing in a striker or a centre-back. Reports would suggest that Wenger is close to signing a centre-back, sensible right.

Arsenal linked with Joao Moutinho move 0

According to the Metro, Monaco are set to allow Portuguese playmaker Joao Moutinho leave this summer. The midfielder has previously been linked with a move to north London by other tabloids, despite the fact that the Gunners seem to be overflowing with players in his position.

Moutinho still has three-years left on his £110,000 per-week contract and Monaco are attempting to reduce their spending, as they have already allowed Colombian striker Radamel Falcao join Chelsea on a season-long loan deal to cut costs.

Arsenal linked with another Porto star 0

Yesterday it was Porto striker Jackson Martinez linked with a move to the Emirates. Today it is highly-rated Porto attacking midfielder Yacine Brahimi who is supposedly attracting admiring glances from north London.

Talksport is claiming that the Gunners are interested in signing the Algerian international, but will have to pay a fee of around £40million to sign him.

In-demand

Brahimi is believed to be a player in-demand this summer, with the likes of Bayern Munich and AC Milan linked with making a move for the star. Porto will be encouraging rumours as it looks like they are willing to part with the midfield, but only for a massive fee.

Arsenal again linked with Porto striker 1

According to the Daily Express, Arsenal could be set to launch a big money move for FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez this summer. This comes after the Portuguese clubs president admitted that the prolific Colombian will be allowed to leave this summer.

Leaving

Porto president Pinto da Costa reportedly said ‘Jackson almost left last summer but we agreed he’d stay one more year. If somebody pays [his value] he will go.’

Martinez has reportedly been a target for Arsenal for the last couple of seasons and seemingly gets linked with a move to north London whenever a transfer window opens. Maybe this summer the striker will actually move on and Arsenal seems a realistic destination.

Arsenal facing familiar scenario in Champions League 1

Posted on December 11, 2014 by David Nugent

As we all know Arsenal have made it to the last 16 of the Champions League for the 15th consecutive season. The Gunners secured qualification with a game to spare, but yet again finished as runners-up in their group.

This is a scenario that has proved problematic in recent seasons. The Gunners have met the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the last 16 and been eliminated at the first hurdle. It is fair to say that finishing second in their group this season is unlikely to produce a much more favourable result for the Gunners.

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Porto duo Juan Fernando Quintero and Jackson Martinez, who have a reported combine value of £60million. The Gunners are now being linked with a summer move for the duo.

Linked

The pair were linked with moves to the Emirates in the summer, but nothing materialised, despite rumours that Quintero was even on his way to London to discuss personal terms with the Gunners. The pair have also been linked with moves to the likes of Roma in Martinez’s case and Juventus in Quintero’s.
