Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he’s unsure if he will make another approach for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez when the January transfer window opens in the new year, reports talkSPORT.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen in the wintertime or next season. He’s an Arsenal player. Of course we were interested in him (but) at the end Arsenal decided not to sell him. So, all the best for Alexis. I know him from Barcelona. And that’s all. Sometimes the deals work, sometimes not,” he said.

The summer transfer window has only been shut but the story drags on.

Alexis Sanchez is still one of Arsenal’s hottest topics after it has been revealed that Manchester City failed in a transfer Deadline Day offer worth £55 million plus £5 million in add-ons for the Chilean.

The Gunners were keen to let the disgruntled star leave for City but only if they manage to find a proper replacement. Having failed in their own bid to land AS Monaco star Thomas Lemar on the last day of the market, Arsenal pulled the plug on any potential deal involving Alexis Sanchez.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola refused to rule out a move for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez when asked in a recent press conference, amid rumours the Sky Blues are lining up a £70m bid to prize the 28-year-old away from the Gunners before transfer deadline day, reports the Express.

Sanchez has turned down a contract extension from Arsenal, and is believed to be keen on leaving for a side with aspirations of winning major honours. The Gunners have only won the FA Cup since his 2014 move from Barcelona, sub standard for a player who has won the Copa America and La Liga title for country and club.

According to the Mirror, Arsenal will fight off interest from Manchester City for Alexis Sanchez this summer, with manager Arsene Wenger having the support of the board. City are believed to be lining up a £70m bid for the 28-year-old’s signature but the Gunners aren’t looking to sell for any price.

With Alexis having 12 months on his deal with Arsenal this summer, a number of clubs were keen on his signature – Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Manchester City, as well as Real Madrid and Barcelona. However, City are the last club standing, with manager Pep Guardiola keen to renew acquaintances with the Chilean international.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has his pick of clubs this summer, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea reportedly keen on his signature. The England international, who has just 12 months left on his current deal, looks set to leave Arsenal as a result of a lack of playing time in his favourite position, but where will he go?

Liverpool still lead the race for the midfielder, with manager Jurgen Klopp a big fan of Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Arsenal player’s industry and creativity would see him fit into the Reds side and be a useful player for their Champions League campaign in 2017/18. And with Arsenal out of the prestigious competition, while having reportedly not offered a formal deal to the 23-year-old, it’s hard to see him remaining at the Emirates Stadium.

AS Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe looks set for a move to La Liga champions Real Madrid after turning down interest from Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester City this summer. The French centre-forward has enjoyed a standout campaign in Ligue 1, helping his side to the title, and has been the subject of interest from a host of clubs.

According to the Metro, Real Madrid have won the race to sign Mbappe after Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola failed to convince the teenager to come to the Etihad Stadium. The Monaco striker’s preference has always been Real Madrid but he’s also mindful about how much game time he will be afforded.

The Citizens are reportedly ready to submit a £50 million that would also include Belgium international Jason Denayer in order to convince Wenger to sell his most prized asset.

The French tactician was last year keen on a move for Denayer after what has been an overwhelmingly successful season with Galatasaray for the 21-year-old Belgium international.

The Gunners could even find themselves seventh by the time this game kicks off, as Everton would leapfrog the home side with a draw at arch-rivals Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime.
