It’s been a busy summer for Arsenal. Having added to their ranks through acquisitions of winger Willian and centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes as well as the arrival of centre-back William Saliba from Saint-Etienne, and secured another loan season-long spell for midfielder Dani Ceballos, there are reportedly still some moves potentially to be made before the window is out.
Alexandre Lacazette arrived to Arsenal from Olympique Lyon in the summer of 2017 as a big-name signing, for a reported fee of around £50 million. The move was widely perceived as a real coup for the Gunners, given that plenty of reports had been linking the striker with some of the biggest clubs around Europe at the time.
Olympique Lyon have accepted that Houssem Aouar could be on his way out of the club following their Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich on Wednesday, according to L’Equpie, and the only offer so far has come from Arsenal.
Lyon finished the 2019/20 Ligue 1 campaign in seventh place, which means they won’t be playing in either European competition next season. Despite coming in eighth in the Premier League, Arsenal managed to avoid that fate in the last possible moment by lifting the FA Cup.
As another summer slowly creeps nearer, transfer rumours, mostly speculation of course, spread around by media outlets across Europe, are gradually overwhelming the screens of football fans. It’s one of the few things the Covid-19 pandemic hasn’t been able to put a stop to. Arsenal are a frequent subject, or rather target, of such stories.
In terms of potential departures, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the name mentioned the most, but the latest report – for the lack of a better (decent) word, suggest Alexandre Lacazette could be on his way out too. The story comes from Lacazette’s homeland of France, from L’Equipe.
According to talkSPORT, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are interested in Marseille’s Christopher Rocchia. The 19-year-old has reportedly been scouted by Gilles Grimandi, which could lead to the Gunners making an approach when the January transfer window opens.
Little is known about Rocchia, but the young left-back was believed to have made the final of the French youth cup with Marseille (Coupe Gambardella), but his long-term future with the Ligue 1 outfit is in doubt with his contract up next summer.
Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette has reportedly undergone a medical at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground today and will be joining the club official on Wednesday.

The French international is expected to set Arsenal back around £52m, a club record fee, and will challenge Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck for a starting place up front.
Arsenal will reportedly smash their club transfer record to sign Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer. According to Sky Sports, the French international will cost more than £50m, significantly more than Mesut Ozil’s £42.4m switch from Real Madrid in 2013.
Despite being desperate to keen the centre-forward at the Parc OL, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has said it would take a bid in excess of £45m to procure Lacazette’s signature this summer. Arsenal were believed to have had an earlier offer rejected but have come in with a much more convincing bid to ensure they will the race for his signature.
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have had a bid rejected for Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette. The Gunners are believed to have offered £44m for the French international, whose asking price is reportedly closer to £50m. Arsenal also had an offer rejected for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
With Olivier Giroud proving to be an able impact substitute while the more mobile Danny Welbeck struggles for goals, Arsenal need a centre-forward to lead the line next season. Alexis Sanchez has been operating behind the frontman and it appeared Lacazette would lead the Arsenal line in 2017/18.
European football expert Julian Laurens believes Arsenal won’t make any new signings until they resolve the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, amid rumours of Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette being high on their wish list this summer.
“He (Lacazette) is the priority, I think nothing can happen without sorting out the Sanchez and Ozil situation, that’s the problem. That’s why I think people at the club are maybe getting a little bit frustrated,” he said to ESPN, reports the Express.
Arsenal could well be running out of time to sign long-term target Alexandre Lacazette from French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais this summer, with the Telegraph reporting that the 25-year-old has been offered the ‘biggest contract in the club’s history’.
Lacazette was offered a contract by Lyon last summer worth around £3.6M, but the club are lining up the most lucrative deal in an attempt to keep him at the Stade des Lumières. Arsenal are keen to secure his signature but are yet to match his €55M asking price.
