Denis Suarez appeared to laugh off reports about Arsenal wanting to cancel his loan from Barcelona and send him back to Spain.

The rumour about the Gunners being unhappy with the Spaniard originated from some extremely unreliable sources but still managed to pick up pace. The speculations, no doubt, stemmed from the fact that Mesut Ozil has come back into the side and has been playing well, as well as that Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are preferred options to Suarez for manager Unai Emery.

Monchi had spent 17 years there before he joined Roma, and won 11 trophies with the La Liga side, including three Europa Leagues alongside current Arsenal manager Unai Emery. At the presentation in Seville, he spoke about the reasons for his choice.

The Metro report suggests that Arsenal face competition from Monchi’s former club Sevilla, where he worked so successfully with current Gunners boss Unai Emery.

AS Roma have officially confirmed that Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, also known as Monchi, has left the club by mutual agreement.

The 50-year-old Spaniard has been linked with the job of technical director at Arsenal for a while now; in fact, ever since the departure of Sven Mislintat became public information. With Mislintat gone, only Raul Sanllehi remains of the three men which oversaw the dismissal of Arsene Wenger last summer and the appointment of Unai Emery in his place.

Arsenal have been on the lookout with the aim of appointing a technical director for a while now. Sven Mislintat, former head of recruitment, has quit his job reportedly over being overlooked for that position.

The club have apparently been considering Marc Overmars who is enjoying a successful spell at Ajax, but the Dutch champions are extremely reluctant to part ways with the former Arsenal winger.

Be that as it may, recent reports suggested that the Gunners actually prefer Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, also known as Monchi, currently working as the director of football at AS Roma. The report by the Mirror went as far as claiming Arsenal had offered the job to Monchi, and now the same outlet claims that the Serie A side have already begun searching for a suitable replacement.

According to John Cross of the Mirror, Arsenal have offered the job of the technical director to Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, known to the football world under the name Monchi.

During his 16 years there, he helped discover players like Sergio Ramos, Jesus Navas, Alberto Moreno, and Jose Antonio Reyes – who scored 23 goals in 110 during his three-year stint at Arsenal. The 50-year-old also worked up bargain deals for the likes of Adriano, Dani Alves, Ivan Rakitić, Seydou Keita and Federico Fazio, and he brought a fantastic level of stability at the club which established itself as one of the better sides in the Spanish top tier in that time. In April, 2017, he left Sevilla to join AS Roma in the same capacity.
