Arsenal are closing in on signing Borussia Dortmund’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos, according to BBC, the Telegraph, Sky Sports and various other sources. The reported sum which the club would pay for the centre-back is £16million.
At 29, Sokratis has a year remaining on his contract at Dortmund. Along with Juventus full-back Stephan Lichtsteiner who is set to join Arsenal for free, the Greece international would represent another low-cost experienced addition to the squad’s defence department. Despite the popular belief that it is the young and talented Daniele Rugani Arsenal were after, the North London giants are actually keen on another Juventus defender.
According to the latest reports emerging from Sky Italia, Gunners have set their sights on the experienced Moroccan international centre-back Mehdi Benatia.
The 30-year-old defender only joined Bianconeri from Bayern Munich on a permanent deal at the end of last season but he’s already being linked with a move away from Turin given that he failed to establish himself as the first-choice centre-back for the Serie A reigning champions. .......Read more here.....

According to the Daily Star and French journalist Manu Lonjon, Arsenal are interested in Bayern Munich centre-back Mehdi Benatia. In fact other reports in France claim that the Gunners are already in negotiations to sign the Morocco international this summer.
Troubled two years in Germany
The centre-back has endured a difficult two year spell in Bavaria following his move from Roma in 2014. The defender cost a fee of around £21million, but has been restricted to just 29 Bundesliga appearances for the German giants because of injury. .......Read more here.....

Premier League giants Arsenal are believed to be showing interest in Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia, who is being heavily linked with a summer move away from Allianz Arena.
The Gunners are not exactly spoilt for options in the heart of defence, with Arsene Wenger currently counting on Laurent Koscielny, Gabriel Paulista, Per Mertesacker and Calum Chambers.
