When Mathew Ryan was first introduced into the equation at the Emirates many fans didn’t expect to see him start so soon – but such is the unpredictable nature of professional football in the COVID-19 pandemic. Ryan was the man tasked with keeping out Aston Villa’s exciting attacking stars this past weekend, but unfortunately for him, the defence was broken within just two minutes.

Arsenal went on to lose the game 1-0 and while Ryan didn’t concede again after that initial strike from Ollie Watkins, he was clearly still disappointed when speaking with the media after the fact.  .......Read more here.....

While Mathew Ryan isn’t going to be the number one goalkeeping option for Arsenal Football Club, we think it’s fair to suggest he’s a solid back-up option to Bernd Leno. Ryan has made the loan move over from fellow Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion until the end of the season, and during a recent interview with Arsenal.com, he spoke about what Gunners fans can expect when he eventually takes to the pitch.
