Liverpool there for the taking for Arsenal 0

Posted on December 19, 2014 by David Nugent

On Sunday Arsenal visit Liverpool’s Anfield, which is not traditionally an easy ground to visit for opposition teams. The Gunners suffered a 5-1 drubbing at the famous old ground last season that seriously derailed their Premier League title hopes.

However, this Liverpool side is a far less potent outfit than the one who blow away the Gunners in last season’s encounter. They no longer have their dynamic striking duo of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge up front for a start and look far less threatening this campaign.

Arsenal linked with fresh bid for French international striker 0

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal could be ready to renew their interest in Real Madrid and France striker Karim Benzema in January. The Gunners have almost been constantly linked with a move for the former-Lyon star in recent transfer windows.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was believed to be ready to make a move for Benzema in the summer, but Benzema signed a new five-year deal with Los Blancos to scupper the Gunners plans to sign him.

The Gunners then decided to turn their attention to signing England international striker Danny Welbeck from Manchester United.

Does Arsenal now need to strengthen their attack? 1

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed last night that French striker Olivier Giroud is likely to be out till the end of December or early next year. Losing their first choice striker is a major blow for the Gunners and he will be hard to replace.

I have to say at times Giroud is unfairly criticised by both media and some Arsenal fans. However, he leads the Arsenal line really well as a lone forward. He gets criticised for his lack of mobility, but he does score goals and provide a focal point for the Gunners attack.

Are Arsenal better off without controversial duo? 0

Arsenal has been heavily linked with two controversial strikers this summer in Loic Remy and Mario Balotelli. It looks like the Gunners have decided against signing either, as Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed they are not in the market for another forward.

France international Loic Remy had been linked with the Gunners for a long time, but is now reportedly heading to the join the Liverpool squad on tour in the USA and have a medical ahead of completing a £8.5million move from QPR.

What’s going on with the Balotelli rumours? 1

While Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger looked to be content with his attacking options for this season, the rumours of Balotelli joining the London side are not going away.

He represented Italy in this summer’s World Cup, but had a poor tournament that his club president (of AC Milan) revealed would hamper his chances of a move.

Mario Balotelli is still currently 3/10 to join Arsenal this summer, but his valuation is said to be in excess of £20M, while requesting wages amounting to over £5M a year before tax, according to various sources.

Wenger denies striker move 0

Arsenal Football Club will not be making any more attacking signings in the summer transfer window, the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has moved to suggest.

The club produced quite a coup by recruiting Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona and it appears that the Chilean will be used in a central role, with Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo acting as his back-up.

Given that Joel Campbell has returned from yet another impressive loan spell and Theo Walcott expected to return into action in the opening exchanges, Wenger seems to have no plans to add any more attack-minded players to the squad.

Balotelli in fresh Arsenal link 2

Italian forward Mario Balotelli has added fuel to speculation linking him with a summer move to the Emirates by posing with his girlfriend in front of an Arsenal logo inside an official Puma shop.

The player’s girlfriend Fanny Neguesha posted the photo of the pair on Instagram, which led to rumours that the Italy international could indeed be heading for the Emirates.

It remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger will be signing new forwards after luring Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, but should he choose to do so, the Frenchman will probably consider recruiting Balotelli.

Poor World Cup scuppers Balotelli’s move to Arsenal 0

According to AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi Mario Balotelli’s poor World Cup campaign with Italy has scuppered the striker’s sale to ‘an English team’, believed to be Arsenal.

The former-Manchester City striker had been linked with a big-money move to the Gunners prior to the World Cup, but it now seems that it is unlikely that Arsene Wenger’s club will now make a move for the striker.

Italy endured a poor campaign in Brazil, losing two of their three group games, with their only victory coming against England in their opening game of the tournament.

Arsenal eyeing Klaas Jan Huntelaar 0

Arsenal are considering a summer move for Schalke striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar in a bid to reinforce the front line, according to the Metro.

The Gunners have been linked with quite a few high-profile forwards including Mario Balotelli and Alexis Sanchez, and the Netherlands international appears to be one of the players they are looking at.

Huntelaar has just a year left on his deal at Schalke and he is reportedly hoping to leave the Miners for a bigger club this summer, and no doubt he would be interested in a potential switch to the Emirates.

Balotelli’s agent dismisses exit talk amid Arsenal links 0

Mario Balotelli’s agent, Mino Raiola, has recently ruled out any talks having undergone between his client and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger this summer, despite various reports suggesting the AC Milan striker was close to signing for the Gunners after falling out of love with the Serie A club.

“Mario has a contract with Milan, the club called me and he is non-transferable,” said Mino Raiola. “I have not been in Brazil and I have never met Wenger.”

While Arsenal are in the market for attacking options, Wenger will want value for money. Balotelli does boast a good goal record for club and country, but he’s very inconsistent and his discipline has long been questioned too.
