Yesterday was the 34th birthday of a German footballer who, in many ways, went further in the game than most probably could’ve ever anticipated. We all always knew he was good, but to be able to hang around at a high level for 16 years and counting is a magnificent accomplishment. Sure, the last few years of his career have been spent in Japan, but that doesn’t take away from what he’s done in the sport.

According to reports from Turkish website Fanatik, Galatasaray are interested in signing the Gunners winger Joel Campbell in January. The Costa Rican international has featured in the Arsenal starting line-up in recent weeks due to the Gunners injury crisis.

However, Campbell has failed to shine during his limited appearances with the Gunners. With a number of the injured players close to a return the former-Villarreal loanee is likely to return to the substitute bench, and once again enjoy limited first team appearances.

Turkish giants Galatasaray offered German forward Lukas Podolski an escape route from the Emirates in the summer after he had struggled for playing time in North London, and the history appear set to repeat itself.

Namely, Sport Mediaset has learned that Cimbom are readying bid for Costa Rica star Joel Campbell, another player who finds himself on the fringes at the Emirates.

Having seen Lukas Podolski spring into action following disappointing spells with Arsenal and Inter Milan, Galatasaray officials believe that Campbell can revive his career in Turkish Super Lig as well.

Turkish news outlet Medya Haber has suggested that Galatasaray are closing in on the signing of French midfielder Mathieu Flamini from Arsenal.

The Turkish giants have already done some business with the Gunners this summer, having recruited Lukas Podolski few weeks back and they are now also hot on the trail of the French footballer.

According to Medya Haber, the two clubs have reached an agreement over the transfer fee, which should see the deal wrapped up in the next couple of days.

Germany forward Lukas Podolski has completed his move from Arsenal to Turkish club Galatasaray.

The transfer could be worth up to £10million to Arsenal with the Gunners receiving an initial payment of £1.8million and a further £2.1million each season for the next three years, and then a further £2.1million if Podolski takes up an option of a further year in Turkey.

Podolski had fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal after struggling for first team football at the Emirates Stadium in the first half of last season. He failed to find the net in his limited Premier League appearances and was loaned out to Italian club Inter in January.

Arsenal have made just one signing this summer, albeit a big one in every sense, with Petr Cech arriving from Chelsea for £10million. However, it seems a number of Gunners players could be heading for the Emirates exit this summer.

The Daily Telegraph are claiming that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is prepared to listen to offers for the likes of David Ospina, Joel Campbell, Mathieu Flamini and Lukas Podolski this summer.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal and Germany forward Lukas Podolski is in talks with Galatasaray over a move to Turkey in a deal reportedly worth around £2million.

The World Cup winner has just one-year left on his contract in north London and is expected to move on this summer. Podolski failed to score a Premier League goal in the first half of last season, but the versatile forward then spent the second half of the season on-loan at Italian giants Inter, and scored just once in 18 appearances for Roberto Mancini’s team.

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski is reportedly close to signing for Turkish side Galatasaray this summer. The German international, 30, spent the last season out on loan with Italian Serie A side Inter Milan, and has been deemed surplus to requirements with the Gunners.

As a result, manager Arsene Wenger is keen to let him go to seek first-team football elsewhere, and Galatasaray have been linked with a £1.4M move for the forward’s services. Podolski has struggled in the last couple of years with the Londoners, and grew publicly frustrated with a lack of starts afforded to him.

Turkish giants Galatasaray have moved to confirm reports linking them with a summer bid for Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski, with the Germany star widely tipped to leave the Emirates in the summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old has failed to kick-start his career during the loan spell with Inter Milan and even though he claims he is happy to remain in North London, chances are the forward will be leaving on permanent basis this summer.

Podolski, who has another year left on his deal at the Emirates, has been repeatedly linked with Galatasaray in the past and the Turkish club’s interest has finally been confirmed by coach Hamza Hamzaoglu.
