In an interview with Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, Unai Emery spoke about the things that went wrong in the final months of his reign as the Arsenal head coach.

Emery was sacked at the end of November, following a string of poor results which culminated with the 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League. Former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg took over on a temporary basis, before the club eventually appointed Mikel Arteta.

Mikel Arteta is ‘more than ready’ to take the managerial post at Arsenal, Guillem Balague claims.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, the Spanish football expert expressed a strong belief that after working for several seasons as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, his compatriot is fully qualified to take the next step and plunge into the waters of management himself.

Denis Suarez appeared to laugh off reports about Arsenal wanting to cancel his loan from Barcelona and send him back to Spain.

The rumour about the Gunners being unhappy with the Spaniard originated from some extremely unreliable sources but still managed to pick up pace. The speculations, no doubt, stemmed from the fact that Mesut Ozil has come back into the side and has been playing well, as well as that Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are preferred options to Suarez for manager Unai Emery.

Suarez deal falls through? 0

Spanish football expert journalist Guillem Balague claims the transfer of Denis Suarez from Barcelona to Arsenal will not be happening this month. The midfielder has apparently decided to stay at Camp Nou after the two clubs failed to agree on all aspects of the deal.

According to Balague, Barcelona demanded a clause to be inserted into the deal, one that would force Arsenal to make the deal permanent in the summer and pay a fee amounting to somewhere in between €20 million and €25 million. Arsenal refused the Catalans’ wish and the deal has seemingly gone down the drain, at least as far as this transfer window is concerned.

Arsenal have reportedly been on the trail of Dortmund striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang for the past few years. The national and international media have informed us in the past that the Gunners were set to sign the striker on a number of occasions.

However, it seems that the Gunners are optimistic about signing the striker this month, according to Sky Sports Spanish football expert Guillem Balague. He told Sky Sports: “It’s clear that Arsenal are in conversations with the player (Aubameyang) and Borussia Dortmund.

“They think they’ve convinced the player to join Arsenal, but of course there’s still a big obstacle to beat, which is: Borussia Dortmund.

Could Valencia’s asking price over Mustafi prove a stumbling block for Arsenal? 0

According to Sky Sports, Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague believes Arsenal’s pursuit for Shkodran Mustafi has hit a stumbling block over the asking price, which could see the deal not going through before the end of the summer transfer window. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed his hope that the protracted transfer would be complete by the weekend, but Balague says otherwise.

“The coaching staff at Valencia think Mustafi will not go, and this is the same message being made by Valencia,” he said. “They insist the only way Mustafi will be allowed to leave is if Arsenal trigger his €50m (£43.1m) buy-out clause, which I think everybody will agree is too much money for him.

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is reportedly close to signing for Arsenal, according to respected pundit Guillem Balague.

‘Morata has agreed to join Arsenal IF, I repeat IF, I insist IF, clubs agree fee. He will push for Madrid to accept Arsenal’s offer.’ – he said on Twitter.

The young Spaniard has been linked with a move to Arsenal all season, but no progress has been made on the initial interest shown from the Gunners.

Morata, 21, has scored three goals in 13 league appearances this season for the senior side. He bagged an impressive 12 goals in 18 last campaign for the reserve outfit in the second division.
