Arsenal have provided updates on the fitness of three players ahead of the Premier League match against Crystal Palace scheduled to take place on Thursday evening at the Emirates.

Gabriel Martinelli turned his right ankle during the warm-up process ahead of the FA Cup win over Newcastle United on Saturday and was consequently replaced in the line-up, having initially been named to start. The 19-year-old forward missed the start of the season through a serious knee injury, and once he recovered, he still understandably needed time to raise his fitness level to the standards required.

As we all know, these two are incredibly big factors in Arsenal’s first team squad and the hope is that we’ll see them return sooner rather than later.

While international football may have taken over as the priority for the next few weeks, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to talk about in the domestic world. For example, as confirmed by Arsenal.com, the Player of the Month for October has been decided – and the winner is starting to become a familiar face in this category.

Gabriel Magalhaes, the club’s newest star defender, is the POTM for the second straight month. While many Gunners defenders over the years have been the definition of inconsistent throughout their time at the Emirates, the Brazilian has started off like a house on fire, and the benefit of that for Arsenal cannot be understated.

It’s been a positive start to the new season for Arsenal and while they’ve still got a lot of work to do before being dubbed a successful top four contender again, the early signs are good. As reported by Arsenal.com, there is one new signing from the summer transfer window above all others who helped to make September a success – and that man is Gabriel Magalhaes.

The one thing that Arsenal needed heading into the new campaign was some stability at the back and Gabriel seems to have introduced that into this side. Sure, he needs to do it for longer than just a few games in order to be taken seriously at this level, but he’s definitely managed to get off to a positive start.

Arsenal, as the FA Cup winners, are set to face Premier League champions Liverpool in the Community Shield on Saturday, and head coach Mikel Arteta spoke to the press ahead of the match, providing some updates on the likes of Willian, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and others.

First of all, the boss was asked about Willian adapting to new surroundings. The Brazilian winger will certainly need some time to absorb all the new stuff around him, but he undoubtedly possesses the right qualities to make it as an Arsenal player and help the team going forward. The coach is obviously impressed with the attitude of the 32-year-old, who, having won a lot in his career, is still hungry for more.

Nonetheless, Gabriel has chosen Arsenal after a breakthrough reached in discussions on Saturday and is set to travel to London on Monday to complete the move which will cost the club up to €30 million (£27m).

Olympique Lyon have accepted that Houssem Aouar could be on his way out of the club following their Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich on Wednesday, according to L’Equpie, and the only offer so far has come from Arsenal.

Lyon finished the 2019/20 Ligue 1 campaign in seventh place, which means they won’t be playing in either European competition next season. Despite coming in eighth in the Premier League, Arsenal managed to avoid that fate in the last possible moment by lifting the FA Cup.
