It’s always been important for Arsenal to have a strong summer transfer window this year and to kick things off, as per Fabrizio Romano, the club has reached a full verbal agreement with Manchester City over the potential signing of Gabriel Jesus.

The reported fee is said to be £45 million and with the departure of both Aubameyang and Lacazette in recent times, this news is welcomed.

The 25-year-old has, in many ways, exceeded expectations at the Etihad despite some being led to believe that he’s been performing below his best.

Arsenal close in on Gabriel Jesus 0

Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, according to Gary Jacob of The Times.

With Alexandre Lacazette already a confirmed signing for former club Olympique Lyon and Eddie Nketiah still in talks over a new contract, the Gunners obviously need to sign a striker this summer, preferably one with plenty of Premier League experience who can take up the starting role upfront straight away. While other names have been mentioned in that aspect, Jesus has been their primary target for a long time now, and it seems the Brazilian is keen to work with Mikel Arteta again after the current Arsenal boss spent three years as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at the Etihad.

Alexandre Lacazette has left Arsenal and has been confirmed as an Olympique Lyon player again. His departure follows fast in the wake of that of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona in January, and Arsenal have found themselves desperately short of strikers, despite Eddie Nketiah reportedly changing his mind about leaving and being close to signing a new contract.

Naturally, the club have turned to the transfer market in order to sort the issue out, and here’s what the Evening Standard are reporting about that mission.

Zinchenko to follow Jesus to Arsenal? 0

Arsenal are reportedly working hard on signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City this summer as they aim to boost their attacking ranks, and according to several sources, Oleksandr Zinchenko could accompany the Brazilian striker on the road to North London.

Grown as a central, box-to-box or attacking midfielder, Zinchenko stepped into the left-back role at the Etihad when manager Pep Guardiola asked him to, after the problems with Benjamin Mendy began. The 25-year-old now plays almost exclusively on the left defensive flank. But though his performances there have been excellent, City are believed to be targeting a designated left-back in the market this summer, and let’s be frank, Zinchenko won’t be getting into that midfield ahead of the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva or Ilkay Gundogan any time soon.

Despite the situation looking completely different until very recently, Eddie Nketiah is now close to signing a new Arsenal contract, David Ornstein reports for The Athletic. Apparently, the 22-year-old striker has changed his mind about leaving the club and is on the verge of recommitting his services for the next five years.

With his current deal expiring at the end of 2021-22, Nketiah was set to depart having refused to sign on the dotted line again earlier in the season. He dropped a few hints in interviews about the prospect of leaving in search of regular game-time, but in a fresh turn of events, he seems to have decided that his future lies at the Emirates, despite the reported interest from the likes of Crystal Palace and several other clubs.

Arsenal are obviously in desperate need of a striker, potentially even two, this summer, and their search for players of the right pedigree goes a long way back. There’s hardly any need to stress – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is no longer at the club, and Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are both set to follow the Gabonese through the exit door as free agents at the end of next month.

Agent Marcelo Pettinati, who represents Gabriel Jesus, has revealed the reported talks with Arsenal over a potential transfer of the Brazil international have indeed taken place, and that a move to the Emirates is a genuine possibility currently being discussed with the project unfolding at the club considered appealing. However, the Gunners obviously aren’t the only interested club with a player of such quality available in the market.

Meanwhile, Jesus himself remains focused on the remaining matches of the season and the prospect of winning the Premier League title again with Manchester City after they suffered a shocking Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid in the semifinals.

Gabriel Jesus likely to leave Man City, Arsenal interested – David Ornstein 0

Reported Arsenal target Gabriel Jesus is likely to leave Manchester City this summer, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

We’ve come to know Ornstein as a figure of some credibility when to comes to Arsenal-related news, and if he continues to report about the club’s interest in the Brazilian forward, there must be a fair amount of truth there.

Arsenal striker search: Jesus, Abraham, Nunez 0

Arsenal are looking to sign two strikers this summer, according to numerous sources, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both set to leave as free agents at the end of the season. The club haven’t replaced Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who joined Barcelona in January, and of the players set to remain at the club, the most senior option to spearhead the attack would be 20-year-old Folarin Balogun. With all due respect to Flo’s obvious talents, it’s a grim prospect and the club surely won’t allow it come to that.

Reported Arsenal target Gabriel Jesus responds to question about future 0

Arsenal have been credited with interest in Gabriel Jesus, and to be honest, it’s one of the most sensible links we’ve seen so far as the opening of the summer transfer window approaches.

The Gunners desperately need a striker to join their ranks, at least one if Eddie Nketiah decides to sign a new contract and stay put, but if he leaves, two would be a bare minimum of requirement. Jesus is certainly an excellent player that ticks all the boxes – knack for goals, work-rate, talent, attacking versatility, and still only 25 with three Premier League titles under his belt.
