The ongoing international break gives national teams a chance to work on a few things in what will serve as the final big test before they reach the FIFA World Cup later this winter. We all know the timing of football’s greatest show in Qatar isn’t exactly ideal, with domestic football being the biggest casualty – alongside the horrendous human rights abuses, of course, but the ‘beautiful game’ doesn’t seem to want to talk about that.

As a result of the festivities getting underway in November, we’re going to be seeing plenty of leagues across Europe endure a really tough schedule in the week ahead in order to get as many fixtures out of the way as possible heading into the new year.

It’s that time of year when a parade of nations are beginning to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, which takes place this November in Qatar.

There’s a lot to unpack in terms of who’s already qualified and what’s to come but today, we want to focus on Thomas Partey.

Arsenal’s electric midfielder opened the scoring for Ghana last night in their qualifier against Nigeria and in doing so, essentially scored the goal that took them through to the finals.

Ghana missed out on the World Cup in 2018 and will be heading to the big dance for the first time in eight years alongside Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco and Cameroon.

While we may not have domestic football to enjoy for another week or so, Arsenal fans can still enjoy seeing some of their squad favourites taking part in international matches. Some are attempting to build some momentum before the Euros this summer, others are attempting to qualify for the World Cup, and some have AFCON on their minds.

There are a lot of spinning plates in the air and as reported by Arsenal.com, the following players have been able to shine over the course of the last few days as the countdown to the return of the Premier League continues.
