Arsenal consider Pepe, Okafor as Mudryk alternatives 0

Posted on November 23, 2022 by Veselin Trajkovic

Arsenal have been credited with strong interest in Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk as manager Mikel Arteta and newly appointed director of football Edu seek to add a wide attacker to the mix. However, Shakhtar director Darijo Srna recently revealed that the Ukrainian club are looking for a fee of around €100 million for the 21-year-old, comparing him to the likes of Jack Grealish, Antony and Jadon Sancho.

The Gunners are unlikely to pursue a deal for that kind of money, and according to Portuguese outlet Record, they’re considering a swoop for FC Porto star Pepe instead after deciding against making a move for him this summer.

He is highly capable of playing out wide as a winger and centrally as an attacking midfielder, and he also netted 11 goals in 45 games as an Algeria international.

As has been reported before, Liverpool and Manchester United are set to do battle against each other in order to acquire the services of Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey in January. The Welshman’s contract at the Emirates is set to expire next summer and as things stand at this point, it seems his future is almost certain to lie elsewhere.

Under those circumstances, it’s understandable that manager Unai Emery should wish to sell the midfielder in January in order to extracts at least some funds from the deal. Meanwhile, it has also already been reported that Arsenal are set to sign Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron in the winter transfer window. The MLS side have already confirmed Almiron would be leaving them and moving to England at the start of the new year.
