Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with Barcelona for several months now, and the Catalan club’s sporting director Eric Abidal admitted, as quoted by Eurosport, that they had indeed been considering a move for him but chose against it in the end.
The La Liga title holders may well be regretting their decision at the moment. The main reason they were in for a striker this winter was the injury of Luis Suarez, the former Liverpool man who may and may not be back in action again this season. Apart from Aubameyang, they were reportedly considering Timo Werner of RB Leipzig, but in the end they came closest to signing Rodrigo Moreno of Valencia. In the end, that attempt fell through as well and they had to settle for making the best of what they already had at their disposal.
