Arsenal and Chelsea play out a goalless draw 0

After a slow start the visitors had a penalty appeal turned down by referee Michael Oliver, as Oscar went down in the penalty area under a challenge from young Hector Bellerin.

On 12 minutes the Gunners had a half-chance. Olivier Giroud picked up the ball in the penalty area and the Frenchman attempted to flick the ball over Thibaut Courtois, but the Chelsea keeper gathered comfortably in the end.

The visitors had a golden opportunity and a penalty appeal turned down on 16 minutes. Former-Gunner Cesc Fabregas fired a superb pass over the Arsenal defence to Oscar, who lofted the ball over David Ospina, only for Bellerin to get back onto his own goal line and clear the ball wide of goal.

Arsenal vs. Chelsea Premier League preview 0

Arsenal host Premier League leaders Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal are the form team of the Premier League having won eight straight games and moving into second-place in the table behind their Sunday opponents.

However, Jose Mourinho’s team are still ten points ahead of the Gunners and a win in north London would move them one-step closer to securing the title this season, as they would need just one more victory to win the league.

Premier League leaders Chelsea face serious selection worries ahead of Sunday’s high-profile clash with Arsenal at the Emirates, where the Blues can all but secure the league trophy, according to the Daily Mirror.

It was veteran Didier Drogba who started games against QPR and Manchester United in the absence of Diego Costa and Loic Remy, but the Ivorian has now moved to reveal that is battling an ankle problem.

The 37-year-old completed full ninety minutes against Manchester United at the weekend, but he was then forced to miss a charity match through an ankle injury, which makes him doubtful for the Arsenal game.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits his side will be out to get revenge for the embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Chelsea when they face the Blues in the same fixture at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners suffered a disappointing 6-0 loss on their previous visit to the Bridge, going two goals down before Kieran Gibbs was sent off after just 15 minutes.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that it was a very bad day for him and his players and he believes Arsenal will be able to get their revenge on Sunday.

Champions League draw a decent one for Arsenal 0

As we now know the Gunners will face Dortmund, Galatasaray and Anderlecht in the Champions League group stage. The draw is not an awful one for Arsene Wenger’s men and they will be quietly confident about making the knockout stages.

Biggest Threat

Arguably the biggest threat to Arsenal making it out of the group appears to be German giants Dortmund, who the Gunners defeated 1-0 last season in Germany, but then also lost to in the game at the Emirates Stadium.

Is Christian Benteke the sort of striker Arsenal needs? 1

The Daily Mirror are reporting this morning that Christian Benteke is a transfer target for Premier League champions Manchester United. However, it appears to me that the Belgium international striker could be just the sort of striker that Arsenal needs.

We all know about Arsenal’s current shortage of strikers and that having just one striker is not an ideal situation for boss Arsene Wenger to find himself in.

French international striker Olivier Giroud must be given credit for the way he has started the season, but it seems he has yet to convince all Gunners fans that he is good enough to spearhead the team attack.
