Most people expected Spanish striker Lucas Perez to leave Arsenal this summer after he spent last season on-loan at Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga. His agent was talking as if he was all but gone from the north London club. Even saying that Serie A outfit Lazio had been in touch over Perez’s availability.

Emery’s arrival good news for Perez

However, according to Spanish publication El Desmarque, Perez could have a future at Arsenal after all, as the Gunners new head coach Unai Emery is a big fan of the 29-year-old.

It seems that Spanish striker Lucas Perez could be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium on a permanent basis this summer. Perez spent last season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna, who suffered relegation to the Spanish Segunda.

In truth, Perez failed to impress at the club where he first made his name. He has little chance of staying with the north London club, especially with the exit of veteran Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

In-demand elsewhere

According to his agent Rodrigo Fernandez, Italian club Lazio wants to sign Perez this summer. Fernandez is reported to have said: “Lazio asked for him last year, but nothing came of it.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal forward Lucas Perez is waiting to see if Deportivo’s bid to re-sign him will be accepted by the Gunners this summer. The Spanish attacker has been angling for an exit after a disappointing debut season at the Emirates Stadium and could be set for a return to Depor.

Perez’s agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle has been critical of Arsenal, saying the Gunners were guilty of lying and mistreating the 28-year-old, while admitting frustration with the club stalling on Deportivo’s bid. “We have talked to everyone. Arsenal know we want to go, that there are no opportunities here, and within a year there is a World Cup,” said Lovelle.

According to the Metro and reports from Spain, the agent of Arsenal striker Lucas Perez has flown into London to discuss the striker’s future in north London.

The striker struggled for first team football last season after a £17million move from Deportivo La Coruna last summer. He has also suffered the indignity of losing his number nine shirt to summer signing Alexandre Lacazette without his knowledge.

A-bit part player

It is not a major surprise that Lucas Perez struggled for game time at Arsenal last season. His signing felt like a stopgap. The Spaniard was no better than the strikers who were already at the club and he was always going to find it difficult to play many minutes in the starting eleven.

Deportivo manager Pepe Mel has admitted his side are keen to bring Lucas Perez back to the Estadio Riazor this summer. The Arsenal forward is deemed surplus to requirements after hardly featuring in his debut season and an exit ahead of the upcoming campaign looks likely as a result.

“Everyone understands that Depor wants Lucas… I know Arsenal well … they do not give away anything, especially if they have paid more before. I told the president to work hard on plan B, because it will probably be the most feasible. But of course we would be waiting with open arms for Lucas because it would make us a team with many more options,” said Mel to AS.

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal’s Spanish striker Lucas Perez has told the north London club he wants to leave this summer. The 28-year-old only moved to Arsenal last summer for a fee of £17million from Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna.

Perez’s agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle told the Press Association Sport: “The idea is to be able to play for another club,”

“We want to leave and Arsenal already knows. Do you know anyone who is happy but has no opportunities?”

The well-travelled striker has started just two Premier League games and nine games in all competitions. He was mostly used as a substitute making 12 appearances for the Gunners last season.
