Highly-rated Bayern Munich and Austria star David Alaba has been talking about his childhood love of Arsenal. An interview given to German publication Bild has led to speculation linking the 26-year-old with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Talked about Spain and England

In his interview with Bild, Alaba said: “I can imagine trying something else but I really feel very comfortable at Bayern.

“Every year there a new challenges and new objectives and the pressure will always be there. I’m happy in Munich but of course, I can imagine seeing something else. Spain, England. In Spain it would be the two big clubs, I guess? Real or Barcelona. Also the big clubs [in England].”

Arsenal suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, which leaves their hopes of making the knockout stages in major doubt.

The Gunners had the first attempt on goal on the three minutes. Mesut Ozil’s cross found Olivier Giroud in the penalty area and he hit an effort first time wide of goal.

On seven minutes Bayern offered their first threat on goal, as David Alaba’s long-range effort was saved easily by Petr Cech. On nine minutes Douglas Costa fired wide of the goal from distance. The home side took the lead on 11 minutes.

Arsenal drew 1-1 with Bayern Munich in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night, but exited the competition 3-1 on aggregate.

The game started in a cagey manner, with Bayern slightly on top with the ball. It took 20 minute for either side to have an effort on goal. David Alaba fed Franck Ribery down the wing and the Frenchman found fellow winger Arjen Robben in the penalty area, only for the Dutchman to fire over tamely.

Bayern Munich claimed a 2-0 victory at Arsenal in the first leg of the last 16 in the Champions League, after the home side were reduced to ten men as the Gunners keeper Wojciech Szczesny saw red in the first half.

The visitors had the first attempt on goal on three minutes, as Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny tipped a Toni Kroos effort wide of goal. It was the Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer that was in action on seven minutes though, producing a low save from Arsenal’s rookie striker Yaya Sanogo.
