It’s always tough to admit when you’re in the wrong, and it’s even tougher to admit when you’ve missed an opportunity. As we’ve seen over the last few years, Arsene Wenger isn’t shy when it comes to talking about some of his mistakes from years gone by – and while we appreciate that in regards to Arsenal’s exploits on the pitch, it isn’t really all too helpful when it comes to players that he wishes he would’ve signed.

According to the Express, Brazilian football journalist Fabio Aleixo believes Real Madrid are looking to Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez should they lose Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. He says the Chilean international is being targeted by the Spaniards as he plays in the same position and would improve the side’s attacking options.

Sanchez scored 24 goals and made 10 assists in 38 Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season. The 28-year-old has been rumoured to be on his way from the Emirates Stadium after failing to agree a new deal with the Londoners, and Real Madrid are reportedly the latest club to show interest in his services.

According to Sqwawka via the Daily Telegraph, Arsenal were interested in signing Atletico Madrid and France forward Antoine Griezmann earlier this summer. There were even claims that Arsenal were willing to pay £60million for the striker.

Arsenal were interested in Griezmann were they? Were they also interested in raiding Barcelona for Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez or Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo as well?

This story sounds like the stuff of fantasy or fantasy football. Of course, Arsenal were interested in the striker, but they were never going to realistically make a move for the striker. The Gunners need a top striker this summer, but top strikers cost top money.

According to the Independent, Real Madrid have exercised their right to buy-back Spanish international striker Alvaro Morata from Italian giants Juventus for £23million.

It is now common practice for Spanish clubs to insert such buy-back clauses in young player’s contracts, just in case they wish to sign them back at a later date.

Completely financially motivated

Real Madrid are a club known to thrown money around, but buying Morata back from Juve may prove to be a masterstroke, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and of course Arsenal all reported to be interested in signing the 23-year-old.

According to Spanish news outlet AS, Arsenal are interested in signing highly-rated Real Madrid youngster Jese Rodriguez. The 22-year-old forward has struggled for first team football in the Spanish capital, with Real’s BBC of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo undoubtedly Los Blanco’s first choice front three.

Big things were expected of Jese when he broke through into the Real first team and he has shown flashes of his talent in his cameo appearances for Los Blanco’s. However it seems he has ground frustrated at the lack of first appearances for the senior team and is agitating for a move.

Here we go again with the Karim Benzema is signing for Arsenal rumour. This time it is the Metro and AS who are claiming that the Gunners are making a £17.8million move for the France international.

Every transfer window the highly-rated striker seems to be mooted with a move to north London and once again it has happened. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be a big admirer of Benzema and the France striker could be available this summer accords to reports.

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has told the club hierarchy to go out and sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. The paper also claims the Gunners are readying a £35million bid for the French international.


Benzema is believed to have been a long-term transfer target for the Gunners. Every recent transfer window he seems to have been linked with a move to north London and Arsenal. However, the 27-year-old had always professed his wish to stay in the capital.

Arsenal and Germany playmaker Mesut Ozil has claimed that he would like to win the Ballon d’Or in the next few years. Ozil is currently away with Germany international team and featured in Wednesday night’s 2-2 friendly draw with Australia.

The midfielder is also expected to feature in Germany’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Georgia on Sunday, in a game that the Germans are heavy favourites to win at odds of 1/8.


Ozil revealed his ambitions in German sports paper Bild by saying: “If I continue to develop well and stay healthy, I would like, in the next few years, to hold the Ballon d’Or in my hands,”

The Daily Mirror is linking Arsenal with a move for two strikers, with one being an old target, while the other is a surprising one. The Mirror claim that the Gunners are close to sealing a deal for Real Madrid youngster Alvaro Morata.

The 21-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent windows, but it seems that he could finally make the move this summer. The biggest sticking point seems to be that the Spanish giants want to insert a buy-back clause in the deal.
