Posted on November 18, 2022 by Harry Kettle

It’s been a week or so since Gareth Southgate announced his squad for the 2022 World Cup and to the elation of Arsenal fans, Ben White was one of the featured names.

The defender has worked incredibly hard to build himself up as a credible inclusion for the WC in Qatar and now, it’s been made official.

During an interview with Arsenal.com, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta couldn’t help but praise White for his continued growth.

“I think he was really happy. I think the staff and players were so happy for him, he fully deserves it and you could see that it was a big moment for him.

Ben White reflects on his Arsenal journey 0

Ben White has received a lot of criticism since joining Arsenal, whether it be due to his insistence on being called Benjamin or because he’s dropped a few clangers in games.

Whatever the case may be, it feels as if the former Brighton star is really starting to settle into life at the Emirates with Arsenal currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table. He may not be the sole reason behind that shift but he’s definitely been a standout player, and it’s exciting to think about where he can go from here.

As confirmed by BBC, Gunners defender Ben White – better known as Benjamin White following that now-viral interview – has had to pull out of the England squad due to injury and will continue his rehabilitation with the club.

The 24-year-old was originally named in the squad by manager Gareth Southgate but has been judged to not be fit enough to take part in proceedings moving forward.

The hamstring issue has ensured he’ll have to sit this set of games out with Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramdsale both also being selected from Arsenal’s camp.

England boss Gareth Southgate has called up Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for the remaining two matches of the World Cup qualifications during the upcoming international break. The Three Lions face Albania next Friday and San Marino the following Monday, needing four points to make absolutely certain they finish top of Group I, ahead of Poland and Albania.

There can be no doubt over the fact that both Saka and Ramsdale have earned to play for their country with excellent performances this season.

Arsenal’s win over Leicester reflects a successful summer 0

Arsenal left the King Power Stadium with the three points in their pockets after fist-half goals from Gabriel Magalhaes and Emile Smith Rowe led to a victory over Leicester City on Saturday. It was, for the large part of the match, Arsenal as they should be again – dominant, fluid, attacking, or to put it simply, the better team.

Arteta happy with Ben White signing 0

After much negotiating and a number of reported offer rejections, Arsenal eventually signed Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion this summer for a reported fee of £50 million to strengthen the back line. Since then, the England international has practically established himself as a regular member of the starting XI, forming a flourishing partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes in the heart of defence.

Manager Mikel Arteta felt around through his centre-back options in the opening three rounds, which saw the Gunners suffer three defeats. He fielded White and Gabriel together in the heart of a back four for the first time against Norwich on September 11, and that’s when the results took a notable turn for the better. The boss hasn’t looked back since as Arsenal kept three clean sheets in six Premier League matches.

Problems all over the pitch in Palace draw 0

Arsenal were yet again held to a disappointing draw on Monday evening at the Emirates as Crystal Palace managed to overturn the Gunners’ early lead, created by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, through Christian Benteke and Odsonne Edouard, and Alexandre Lacazette eventually salvaged a point with a last-gasp strike. The three defeats with which Mikel Arteta’s team started the season were patched over to an extent with three consecutive triumphs, including the impressive one in the North London Derby, but shadows of old troubles first appeared in a goalless draw away to Brighton and Hove Albion ahead of the international break, and now this. It’s only natural to ask the question of what went wrong this time. In short – almost everything.

Brighton boss Potter hails Ben White ahead of Arsenal clash 0

Arsenal will be facing Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex on Saturday afternoon in their seventh match of the Premier League season. For Ben White, it’ll obviously mean returning to the stadium which he left in the summer to join the Gunners, and Brighton boss Graham Potter praised his former charge at his pre-match press conference.

White’s performances for the Seagulls last season were so impressive that he was eventually granted a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros this year, prompting Arsenal to pay as much as £50m for his services.

The Ben White pressure 0

Posted on August 18, 2021 by Harry Kettle

Over the weekend we saw a lot of fascinating games to open up proceedings in the Premier League’s new season, and we’d say one of the most interesting came on Friday when Brentford began their top flight journey against Arsenal. From pillar to post they just seemed to bully the Gunners off the pitch and unfortunately, that’s a story that’s just becoming a little bit too familiar under the guidance of Mikel Arteta.

One man who isn’t used to that feeling, though, is Ben White. The former Brighton man made his way over to the Emirates for a fee believed to be around £50 million which, in itself, brings with it the kind of pressure no player wants to be associated with.

Ben White backs himself to succeed at Arsenal 0

Ben White has officially completed his move from Brighton & Hove Albion to Arsenal for over £50 million, and it’s safe to say the move has been divisive. Some think the Gunners have overpaid whereas others believe he could be just what they need to get themselves going in the Premier League this season.

As we continue the countdown to the start of the new campaign, Arsenal.com spoke with White about the move and his future in North London – and he seemed to be feeling pretty confident about where he’ll be going from here.
