Mkhitaryan set for Arsenal return? 0

Posted on February 11, 2020 by Veselin Trajkovic

As things stand at the moment according to reports both in Italy and England, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to return to North London following his season-long loan spell with AS Roma.

When the two clubs arranged the temporary switch last summer, they agreed on an option to buy, enabling the Serie A side to make the deal permanent for £20 million. However, Roma deem the price far too high given the Armenian’s age and injury record – he just turned 31 last month, and he has already missed 16 games in all competitions this season. He has racked up just seven starts as a consequence, and though he started the Italian adventure better than many will have expected, scoring on his league debut against Sassuolo, he hasn’t been able to keep it going first due to an abductor tear, later to be ‘complemented’ by a thigh problem.

Italian clubs interested in Kolasinac 0

Sky Sports are reporting that two Serie A clubs, namely AS Roma and Napoli, are interested in signing Sead Kolasinac from Arsenal.

The 26-year-old arrived to the club from Schalke 04 in the summer of 2017 on a free transfer, and as one of the more attractive prospects among the fullbacks, the acquisition was certainly a bargain. He has so far made 88 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, scoring five goals and laying on 15 assists.

Chris Smalling on Arsenal’s radar 0

Arsenal are interested in signing Chris Smalling from Manchester United when his loan spell at AS Roma expires next summer, according to Mirror.

The 29-year-old centre-back was apparently very reluctant to remain at Old Trafford following the arrival of Harry Maguire from Leicester City for a whopping £80 million, obviously not liking the prospect of losing out on precious game-time in the season preceding Euro 2020 as he strives to be a part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the tournament. Roma were on the hunt for a central defender after Kostas Manolas left to join Napoli and Liverpool refused their offer of a loan for Dejan Lovren, and getting Smalling in seemed the obvious solution for all parties.

Mkhitaryan stars in Armenia’s triumph over Bosnia 0

Armenia beat Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday by 4-2. The indisputable star of the game was Arsenal’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan, currently on loan at AS Roma.

Mkhitaryan opened the scoring after less than three minutes, and after former Manchester City striker, now Mkhitaryan’s Roma teammate Edin Dzeko, equalized ten minutes later, he restored the lead for Armenia in the 66th. Assisted by Arsenal’s Sead Kolasinac, Amer Gojak set the score level for the second time in the 70th, and then Mkhitaryan added an assist to his brace as he set Hovhannes Hambardzumyan for Armenia’s third with 13 minutes to go. An own-goal from Sjepan Loncar in the final minute of the game set the final score.

Joachim Andersen: Arsenal’s Italian battle continues 0

One of the many names Arsenal have been linked with ahead and during the ongoing transfer window in Joachim Andersen of Sampdoria.

Andersen is a 23-year-old central defender, highly valued by his current club (reportedly around €40 million) and numerous potential suitors who have been scouting him heavily. Having started out at FC Twente, he joined the Genoa side in 2017 and has made 42 appearances for them in all competitions; 34 of those came during the 2018/19 season.

Arsenal linked with Manolas again 0

Having been linked with him a few years ago, Arsenal are once again reportedly interested in signing Kostas Manolas of AS Roma.

The defender started his professional career with AEK Athens in 2009 and moved to Olympiacos three years later. He arrived to Rome in 2014, and has so far played 209 games and scored nine goals in their shirt in all competitions. The most important goal of the nine was undoubtedly Roma’s third against Barcelona last season as it dispatched the Catalans from the Champions League in the quarterfinals.

Monchi leaves Roma 0

AS Roma have officially confirmed that Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, also known as Monchi, has left the club by mutual agreement.

The 50-year-old Spaniard has been linked with the job of technical director at Arsenal for a while now; in fact, ever since the departure of Sven Mislintat became public information. With Mislintat gone, only Raul Sanllehi remains of the three men which oversaw the dismissal of Arsene Wenger last summer and the appointment of Unai Emery in his place.

Roma CEO Guido Fienga said:

Roma search for Monchi replacement 0

Arsenal have been on the lookout with the aim of appointing a technical director for a while now. Sven Mislintat, former head of recruitment, has quit his job reportedly over being overlooked for that position.

The club have apparently been considering Marc Overmars who is enjoying a successful spell at Ajax, but the Dutch champions are extremely reluctant to part ways with the former Arsenal winger.

Be that as it may, recent reports suggested that the Gunners actually prefer Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, also known as Monchi, currently working as the director of football at AS Roma. The report by the Mirror went as far as claiming Arsenal had offered the job to Monchi, and now the same outlet claims that the Serie A side have already begun searching for a suitable replacement.

Arsenal to swap Ramsey for Roma’s Schick 0

Posted on November 10, 2018 by Veselin Trajkovic

According to Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal are set to do a swap deal with AS Roma this January, one that would see Aaron Ramsey move to the Italian capital and Patrik Schick go the other way.

The contract stand-off between Ramsey and Arsenal is a story that has been told and retold many times, and by now anyone who even remotely follows the football happenings in England will be aware of the current situation. An offer was on the table, and it had been discussed, and according to Ramsey himself it came close to materializing into a signed contract before the club suddenly put a stopper in the whole thing and declared no new offer would be forthcoming, with his current contract set to run out next summer. Let’s just leave it at that.

Arsenal keeping an eye on Under 0

According to several media outlets in Turkey, AS Roma’s Cengiz Under has been on Arsenal’s radar for a while now. The Gunners apparently even had a £30million bid rejected by the Serie A side in the summer, but they aren’t prepared to give up just yet.

Under started his professional career in 2014 with Turkish second-tier side Altınordu, where he spent two seasons before moving to Istanbul Basaksehir. He made his move to Stadio Olimpico in Rome in the summer of 2017, and so far he has made 39 appearances for Roma and scored 10 goals. He was a very important player in their run to the Champions League semifinal, taking out Barcelona in the process before getting eventually eliminated by Liverpool. He’s been capped 10 times with Turkey and has four international strikes to his name.
