Arsenal suffer further transfer setbacks 0

Posted on January 26, 2022 by Veselin Trajkovic

Arsenal’s attempts to reinforce their ranks this summer certainly cannot be said to be going the right way up to this point. Desperately needing a striker, the club reportedly held a strong interest in Dusan Vlahovic, but the Serbia international seems to have chosen Juventus as his destination, following Fiorentina’s decision to accept a €75 million bid from the Old Lady.

As for the midfield section, the need to add some proper cover or competition for the duo of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka is obvious, and the club were said to be involved in talks with Juventus over Arthur Melo, and to have expressed an interest in Olympique Lyon’s Bruno Guimaraes.

Arsenal to travel to Dubai for winter break 0

Arsenal will be travelling to Dubai to recharge their batteries by training in warmer weather during the winter break.

The Gunners go into the break on the back of a triple disappointment, a shocking FA Cup exit at the hands of Nottingham Forest, a Carabao Cup semifinal defeat to Liverpool and a goalless draw against relegation-threatened Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday. The latter two were played at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta’s team obviously need something to lift their spirits ahead of the crucial part of the season, with a return to the Champions League seen as as ultimate goal. The league action resumes on February 10th, when they travel to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux.

Latest on potential Arthur and Vlahovic transfers 0

Arsenal continue to put strong effort into signing both Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus and Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina on a permanent deal, according to numerous sources. However, neither deal represents straightforward business, and various complications are the reason why neither has made the switch yet.

The Gunners want Arthur on a straight loan for the rest of the season and nothing more. On the other hand, Juventus are only prepared to let the midfielder go if they secure a proper replacement (they’ve been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria), as head coach Massimiliano Allegri feels he needs a reliable midfielder outside his regular starting XI.

Arsenal still working on Arthur Melo loan 0

Arsenal are still in talks with Juventus over the possibility of signing Arthur Melo on loan for the rest of the season, according to Turin-based outlet Tuttosport.

The Gunners have been working hard to identify a central midfielder to be added to their ranks for a while now, with manager Mikel Arteta apparently feeling that this particular segment of the squad is being stretched too thin. The need became more obvious, if only for a short while, after Granit Xhaka earned a straight red card in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal against Liverpool at Anfield last week. As it stands, the Swiss international will now miss the second leg against Liverpool on Thursday, as well as and the Premier League match against Burnley on Sunday because this was the second time he’s been sent off this season.

Arsenal in talks with Juventus over Arthur loan 0

According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are pushing hard to complete the signing of Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus for the rest of the season.

Arthur joined Juventus from Barcelona in the summer of 2020 for a fee that was reported to have stood around £70 million, but in fact it was a part of an exchange which saw Miralem Pjanic, also linked with Arsenal in the past, go the other way as the two European heavyweights sought for ways to set their financial books in order.
