In terms of results, Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid at the Emirates Stadium in the Europa League semi-final first leg was not the worst in the world.

However, the result does not tell the whole story. It does not tell how Arsenal dominated the game. It also does not tell how the Gunners played against Atletico for over 80 minutes of the game. Overall, the draw is a missed opportunity considering the circumstances.

Arsenal could only muster a 1-1 draw against ten-man Atletico Madrid at the Emirates Stadium in the Europa League semi-final first leg, despite playing against ten men for over 80 minutes.

The Gunners had the first chance of the game on six minutes, as Alexandre Lacazette volleyed just wide of goal after good work from Danny Welbeck. Lacazette saw a header palmed away by Jan Oblak soon afterwards.

On ten minutes, Atletico were reduced to ten minutes as full-back Sime Vrsaljko received a second booking for a late challenge on Lacazette. Four minutes later Diego Simeone was sent to the stands after protesting one of the official’s decisions.

According to London Football, Arsenal maybe monitoring Dembele, no not the Belgian midfielder who ambles around so effortlessly at Tottenham, but Barcelona’s young forward Ousmane Dembele.

The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the most exciting young players in the world game. He only moved to the Catalan giants last summer a deal worth over £90million.

Struggled for game time due to injuries

Unfortunately, for the youngster, he has struggled to make an impact at Barcelona due to injuries. His recent goal against Chelsea in the Champions League was the forward’s first for the Catalan club.

Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has revealed why he will not consider joining Premier League side Arsenal after a bad experience with the side in 2013.

Arsenal have been able to arrest a slump in form in recent weeks as they have claimed two key wins in the Premier League. Their 2-0 dismantling of Tottenham was very impressive as Spurs were not given a sniff in the game, while a 1-0 win over highflying Burnley was yet another fine result.

With Arsenal now looking likely to cash in on their selling rights for Real Sociedad Carlos Vela (for around £10M) should they be using the Mexican to push through a deal to sign talented winger Antoine Griezmann?

Arsenal are 5/2 to win the race for his signature, but haven’t made a genuine approach for the 23-year-old yet, while the move to relinquish Vela of his attached buy-back clause is gaining momentum.

Vela, 25, has enjoyed a prolific spell in Spain since his move from Arsenal. His goal contributions have been superb for Sociedad, scoring 12 and assisting 7 in 2011/12, 14 & 9 in 2012/13, and 16 & 12 in 2013/14.

Arsenal could be set for a double raid on Real Sociedad this summer. The Gunners have been linked with re-signing their former striker Carlos Vela, but the Daily Mail claim that the Gunners are also looking at renewing their interest in teammate Antoine Griezmann this summer.

Griezmann has developed steadily at Real Sociedad in recent years and at 23-years of age is starting to fulfil his immense potential. Last season Griezmann scored 21 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions and got three assists.

Wenger set to sign new deal and spend big this summer 1

Posted on April 24, 2014 by David Nugent

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to end speculation over his future by signing a two-year contract extension and then spend big this summer strengthening his squad. The news that Wenger will sign a new contract may not come as a surprise, but Wenger spending big may surprise some Gunners fans.

Mr Wenger is notoriously careful with Arsenal’s money and almost treats the club chequebook like it his own. For most managers that would mean spending big and bringing in expensive new players, not Arsene though.
