Arsenal head to face in-form league leaders Arsenal later today. The game will be a massive test of the Gunners newfound resolve under Spanish boss Unai Emery. Liverpool are unbeaten this season in the Premier League and the Merseysiders are now six points clear at the top of the table. Jurgen Klopp’s side are truly formidable opponents at the moment.

A potential defensive crisis

Despite an improvement in form since Emery’s arrival, the Gunners defence has still looked vulnerable this season. At times, they have been lucky and probably should have conceded more goals.

After a disappointing Boxing Day result away to Brighton and Hove Albion, Arsenal travel to face Liverpool on Saturday in what is set to be a hard test for manager Unai Emery and his men.

It’s fair to say the Gunners gave the league leaders a good game at the Emirates earlier in the season and were arguably even the better team, but it’s also fair to admit that the disallowed goal scored by Sadio Mane in that game should have stood.

Phil Neville believes half of the Arsenal team want to leave 0

Former Manchester United and Everton defender Phil Neville believes the majority of Arsenal players want to leave the club, after the Gunners fell 4-0 to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Speaking to NBC via the Express, Neville said: “I grew up challenging Arsenal as a player for Manchester United and it’s all just a bit sad.

“I saw things on that football pitch that every Arsenal supporter in that away end and watching around the world, must make their blood boil. I thought it was a disgraceful performance – lack of effort, quality and no system. It’s not about systems and it’s about fight and determination and desire.

Wenger admits Arsenal’s performance ‘was not acceptable’ in 4-0 defeat to Liverpool 0

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was left frustrated after his side went down to a 4-0 defeat away to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon. The Gunners were below-par for the majority of the game, saw their mistakes punished with goals and were not at the races, according to the manager.

“From the first minute to the last we were not at the required level for such a game,” Wenger said, reports talkSPORT. “Not physically, not mentally, not technically – we were not at the level – and we were punished. We can analyse the chances we gave away but I think overall the performance was not at the requested level.”

Arsenal 12/5 to win against Liverpool 1

Arsenal travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, in a game that could well see them coming unstuck based on the formbook. Arsenal have a poor record at Anfield, have not fared well away from home in the Premier League of late, coupled with Liverpool’s fantastic form on home soil in the last 12 months.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side are currently seventh in the Premier League table with four points from their first two games, drawing 3-3 with Watford before beating Crystal Palace 1-0. The Reds have been strong at Anfield for some time, losing only one game since January in their own backyard in the league, while boasting a 3-1 win the last time the two sides met in Merseyside.

Arsenal could sell Mustafi with Inter and Juventus interested 0

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi could be sold just 12 months after his arrival at the Emirates Stadium. Serie A giants Inter Milan and Juventus are the two sides closely linked with his signature, although the former are trying to sign the centre-back on loan. Juventus have yet to make an official approach.

It would be a big shock to see the German international leave Arsenal so soon after joining, as it would leave the Gunners very thin in defence. Laurent Koscielny has only just returned from injury, Per Mertesacker has been left out of the starting lineup so far this season, while Rob Holding has been dropped entirely.

On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal face a tough trip to Merseyside to play Liverpool at Anfield, as the Gunners look to recover from defeat last time out.

Liverpool have started their campaign with a 3-3 draw against Watford, before narrowly beating Crystal Palace 1-0 last time out in the top-flight. The Reds also head into this clash on the back of safely making it into the group stages of the Champions League following a 6-3 aggregate victory over German side Hoffenheim.

Arsenal travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in this evening’s Premier League clash, and are underdogs to get a result given their poor form on their travels. A big victory for the Gunners could see them go second in the table and four points clear of Liverpool, while defeat would see the Merseysiders leapfrog Arsenal and push the Londoners out of the top-four.

Home side Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League table with 49 points from 26 games this season, having picked up just one win from their last seven. However, Jurgen Klopp’s men still carry a threat at Anfield, boasting three wins and a draw from their previous five home games, and beat Arsenal in the reverse fixture back in August.

Danny Welbeck “in contention” to start against Liverpool 0

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed Danny Welbeck could start against Liverpool on Saturday evening after building up his match fitness with a series of non-competitive fixtures with the U21s after cameo appearances with the first-team.

After suffering two serious and lengthy knee injuries early into his career with the Gunners, Wenger was keen to prolong Welbeck’s full return to the side. But he now appears ready to give the 26-year-old a long awaited Premier League start.

Arsenal could move five points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a win at in-form Liverpool in Saturday’s early kick-off. The Gunners title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City both play in the 3PM games.

The trip to Anfield will be a tricky one for Arsene Wenger’s men, with the Reds losing just one of their Premier League games at home in the top-flight this season. The Reds have also won 10 of those 12 games and are unbeaten in the last ten on home soil.
