Gunners once again linked with Barcelona star 0

According to the Express and reports from France, Arsenal are once again showing an interest in Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes. According to a French media outlet, the Gunners are trying to negotiate a deal for the central midfielder.

Does Arsenal need Gomes?

However, with a limited transfer budget, a move for Gomes would not make sense. The Gunners have already strengthened in the centre of midfield with the signing of Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira.

For me, Torreira far better represents the type of midfielder Arsenal need. They needed a talented ball-winner, who has excellent passing ability. If given a choice between Torreira and Gomes, I would prefer the South American star.

According to the Independent, Arsenal could be set to make a bid of around £30million for Barcelona central midfielder Andre Gomes this summer. New Arsenal boss Unai Emery is reportedly a big fan of the former Valencia star and is prepared to sell players in order to buy Gomes.

Limited transfer budget

The Gunners are reportedly working on a tight budget this summer, as they attempt to strengthen the squad for next season. The north London club has already signed goalkeeper Bernd Leno, as well as defenders Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos this summer.

Barcelona ready to throw in Andre Gomes to sweeten Mesut Ozil deal 0

Catalan giants Barcelona look determined to go for Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil during the January transfer window.

The German international Ozil is running out of contract at the end of the season and Gunners look set to sell their first-team star in order to avoid losing him on a free contract next summer and La Liga leaders Barcelona are said to be leading the race.

The 29-year-old midfielder has been the centre of attention at Arsenal for quite some time. Ozil has been linked with a departure to Manchester United where he would be reunited with former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, but it appears that Arsene Wenger would rather not sell his top asset to league rivals.
