Posted on July 19, 2021 by Veselin Trajkovic

Arsenal have completed and confirmed the signing of Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht, for a fee which reportedly amounts to around €17.5 million (£15m), with an addition of €4.5m to be paid later through add-ons.

The midfielder joined Anderlecht’s academy at the age of 15 and rose through the ranks quickly, earning a place in the first team in 2018. Between then and now, Lokonga made a total of 78 appearances in all competitions for the Belgian club, scoring three goals and assisting seven. Lokonga also represented Belgium at different youth levels, but for the senior side he’s been called up just once and remained an unused substitute.

Arsenal reach Lokonga agreement 0

Arsenal have reached an agreement with Anderlecht over the proposed transfer of Albert Sambi Lokonga, according to Fabrizio Romano, after the Belgian midfielder rejected two offers from Italy in favour of a move to North London. The Gunners will be paying €17.5 million straight up as the guaranteed part of the fee, with add-ons set to increase the total amount to around €21m (£18m).

The 21-year-old seems to be one for the future at the Emirates, though his qualities do appear to match Arsenal’s current need as well. The ranks have grown thin in the central midfield section, and Lokonga should fit in well enough, at least in terms of squad depth for a while. Preferring to play in a box-to-box role, he can do the job of protecting the back line as well.

It seems to have been a busy day as far as Arsenal’s dealings in the summer transfer markets are concerned, with with red lights shining at every crossroad for the moment. According to different sources, the Gunners rejected an offer from Aston Villa for Emile Smith Rowe, and saw their own bids for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White and Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga turned down.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Arsenal have submitted a bid of around €15 million for the services of Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga. The Belgian club want closer to €20m to part ways with the 21-year-old, but they aren’t opposed to a sale and there is a feeling that a deal will be struck in the near future.

Onyekuru snubs Arsenal to complete Everton move 2

Posted on June 29, 2017 by Crippy Cooke

Nigerian international Henry Onyekuru has turned down interest from Arsenal and West Ham United to join Everton this summer, reports the Express. The KAS Eupen striker, who scored 24 goals in 41 games in all competitions last season, announced the move on his Instagram account before Everton formally revealed the transfer.

It’s bad news for Arsenal as the Gunners appeared to be in the driving seat to procure his signature but a failure to secure a work permit led to the deal breaking down. Everton will sign Onyekuru and loan him out to Belgian Jupiler Pro League giants Anderlecht for next season until he gets a work permit to play in England.

The Daily Express claims that Petr Cech maybe not be the only Chelsea player heading for Arsenal this summer, as the Gunners are being linked with a £8.5million bid for highly-rated young winger Charly Musonda, whose father played for Zambia and enjoyed a career in the Belgian top-flight.

Musonda is regarded as a bright prospect at Chelsea, who signed the Belgian back in 2012 from Anderlecht. However, the Blues are believed to be having doubts about the youngster’s physical presence.

Despite the concerns it is being reported that the Blues are keener on a loan deal, with the possibility of a permanent deal at the end of it.

According to the Metro, Arsenal are interested in signing highly-rated young Belgian under-21 international midfielder Youri Tielemans. The 18-year-old is reported to be rated in the £14.4million bracket.

Highly-rated

Even though he is just 18-years of age, Tielemans has made 86 appearances for Anderlecht. The youngster is regarded as something of future midfield superstar, having impressed at club level and also at international level with the junior Belgian sides.

The youngster has been linked with a number of clubs including Atletico Madrid and Italian giants Inter. Tielemans has only just signed a five-year deal with his Belgian club, so any deal will not be an easy one.

Arsenal could press ahead with a move for Argentinian defensive midfielder Lucas Biglia this summer according to the Metro. The 29-year-old is currently plying his trade in Serie A with Lazio and is reportedly available for £18million in the summer.

Agreed

According to reports from Italy, Biglia’s agent has made an agreement with Lazio that his client will be allowed to leave the eternal city if any club comes in with a bid of £18million. That seems a lot of money for a player of his age.

Arsenal facing familiar scenario in Champions League 1

Posted on December 11, 2014 by David Nugent

As we all know Arsenal have made it to the last 16 of the Champions League for the 15th consecutive season. The Gunners secured qualification with a game to spare, but yet again finished as runners-up in their group.

This is a scenario that has proved problematic in recent seasons. The Gunners have met the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the last 16 and been eliminated at the first hurdle. It is fair to say that finishing second in their group this season is unlikely to produce a much more favourable result for the Gunners.

Galatasaray vs. Arsenal Champions League preview 0

Arsenal completes their Champions League group with a trip to Turkish side Galatasaray on Tuesday night. The Gunners have already qualified for the knockout stages of the competition and could still technically win the group if German side Dortmund slip-up against Anderlecht in the other match of the group.

Galatasaray’s form has been very inconsistent in recent weeks, as the Turkish side have won three and lost three of their last games in all competitions. Gala have won the last two domestic games, following consecutive Champions League defeats against Dortmund and Anderlecht respectively.
