According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson in the subject of interest from Swansea City and newly-promoted Brighton & Hove Albion. The 25-year-old has been subsidiary at the Emirates Stadium for some time and has been available for transfer for 12 months. Manager Arsene Wenger is keen to get him off the wage bill.
Jenkinson made just five appearances for the first-team in all competitions last season, amounting to 254 minutes of playing time. Crystal Palace were keen to provide him a chance at redemption, but the right-back rejected their terms. This summer could see him finally make the move away from Arsenal, however, after being stuck in football limbo for some time.
Swansea City are keen to bolster their backline with players boasting Premier League experience who aren’t going to break the bank. As for Brighton & Hove Albion, the Premier League newcomers are also looking to strengthen with players from the top flight and Jenkinson could be open to the switch.
This summer sees Arsenal potentially axing a number of fringe stars in a bid to trim the wages and squad numbers as they break the bank for a marquee signing once more – £52m on Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette. There hasn’t been a bid for Jenkinson as of yet but offers are expected in the coming days.
