France international goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier has been linked with Arsenal this summer. His asking price is said to be around £6M.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has long been a fan of the 26-year old. He previously tired to procure his signature a number of years ago, but a deal failed to materialise.
Ruffier signed for Saint-Etienne from newly-promoted Ligue One side AS Monaco in 2011 – making 128 appearances in six-years for his old side.
Fiorentina and Roma are two other sides said to be looking at procuring his signature this summer, but the Saint-Etienne man is said to favour the Premier League over Italy.
The 26-year old has only made one appearance for the France national team (in 2010 against Norway). A potential move to the Premier League could see him in contention of more call-ups.
‘St Etienne would like to keep him but if they get a good offer they would let him go. Currently there has been contact with an English club. Therefore, a future in the Premier League is a possibility.’ – Patrick Glanz, Ruffier’s agent.
The Arsenal manager needs potential cover after selling goalkeeper Vito Mannone to Sunderland, which could see Ruffier coming to the Emirates for the 2013/14 season.
