Start strong
Arsenal are 45 minutes or so away from kicking off their brand new Premier League campaign against Newcastle United, in what should be a pretty intriguing game. The official team sheet has been released and with all eyes being on the Gunners and what Unai Emery is going to do with this team, we thought we’d take a look at the names who are going to be featuring in this one.
The overwhelming message, though, as you can imagine, is simple: start strong, Arsenal. It’s going to be a big season.
Leno
He’s the number one man for the Gunners and that is going to be the case for quite some time to come.
Maitland-Niles
This could pose a few problems, purely because we all know that Maitland-Niles has a few mistakes in his locker. Emery is clearly taking the approach of “let’s see how these guys get on” before turning to the bench.
Chambers
This is a big risk, but we can understand Emery wanting to give Chambers a chance to prove himself amid all of the incomings over the summer.
Sokratis
This man is being viewed as the second half of the first choice partnership at the back alongside Luiz, so he needs to prove why that’s the case later today.
Monreal
Monreal can still do a job at the back, and he should be a solid enough option against the Magpies.
Guendouzi
Guendouzi has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the league. Go out there and prove it.
Xhaka
Underwhelming in the eyes of some, but when he’s playing at his best, Xhaka is a cracking midfielder.
Mkhitaryan
He probably should’ve left the club over the summer, but he’s here, so we need to make the best of a bad situation.
Willock
This kid deserves everything he’s got coming to him, and we’re really excited to see what kind of performance he can produce.
Nelson
Nelson, alongside Willock, has a point to prove, and we think he’ll thrive in this attack-minded Arsenal line-up.
Aubameyang
The main man. He’ll be expected to get off to a flyer, with at least one goal to begin his campaign.
Bench
Martinez, David Luiz, Torreira, Ceballos, Pepe, Martinelli, Lacazette. Those are some pretty impressive names that Arsenal can call upon, which gives us hope that they’ll be just fine if things start to go a bit south.
Are you excited about the game today?
