Speculation over Sanchez’s future not helping Arsenal

Posted on June 30, 2017 by David Nugent

Alexis Sanchez is no doubt Arsenal’s star player, but the situation over his future with the club is now becoming tiresome. The Chilean has just a year left on his contract and there are no signs of him signing a new deal with the Gunners.

Last season Sanchez scored 30 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal. The 28-year-old would be very hard to replace, especially taking into account the fact the Gunners are likely to receive a smaller fee as the months on his contract tick down.

Unwilling to reveal his thoughts

While on international duty At the Confederations Cup, the star was again asked about his future, this time whether he would be joining international teammate Claudio Bravo at Manchester City.

He told Sky Sports: “Good question. Right now I’m focused on the Confederations Cup. When this is finished I will see if I stay or if I go. I don’t know.”

The forward was then asked if it was clear where he would be plying his trade next season and said: “Yes it’s clear but I can’t tell you.”

Sanchez was never going to reveal much in the media, as his situation at Arsenal is an uncertain one and it will not help the team if it drags on.

In-demand this summer

Manchester City are currently favourites to be Sanchez’s next club at odds of 11/10, while the likes of Bayern Munich and Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the Chilean this summer.

If he does want to leave north London this summer, then there will be a big queue of clubs waiting to sign him that is for sure.

As Arsenal missed out on the Champions League for next season, a move to another club in Europe’s elite competition may just appeal to the forward.

Not sure what to make of situation

It is hard to know what will happen with Alexis Sanchez this summer. He does not seem any closer to signing a new deal, though, so that is worrying for Gunners fans and staff alike.

It was widely assumed that he would leave the north London club this summer. However, there is still a bit of hope left in me that he will, in fact, stay at the Emirates this summer. That might mean him leaving for nothing next summer and the Gunners ending up receiving no fee for the Chilean.

Whatever happens, I just hope that Alexis Sanchez’s future is sorted out in a swift manner, as speculation about the player has not helped anybody at the club.

Will Alexis Sanchez be an Arsenal player next season?
