It’s been a busy transfer window for Arsenal as the stories about a squad overhaul persist into August, the very month when the Premier League restarts. The club have completed three signings so far, left-back Nuno Tavares, midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga and centre-back Ben White, and by all accounts, they’re working on getting a couple more in before they take on newly promoted Brentford in the opening round.
But in order to secure the funds necessary to go through with their plans, they will have to get a few outgoing deals done as well. According to the Express, they’re looking at seven players to help them in that aspect.
One of them is Hector Bellerin, who is of interest to Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri have sold Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain and are in need of a dynamic right-back to take his place, and Bellerin, who was also on the radar of PSG before the Hakimi deal, is their primary target.
Joe Willock is still being pursued by Newcastle, where he spent the second half of last season on what turned out to be a successful loan spell. However, Magpies boss Steve Bruce recently expressed a concern with the start of the season approaching fast, saying the club would have to consider alternative targets if an agreement isn’t reached soon.
Reiss Nelson is believed to be a target for Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, now in charge at Crystal Palace, while Willian appears set for a move abroad, though the Brazilian’s destination remains unclear at this point.
Sead Kolasinac has no place in Arteta’s plans for the future, and with his contract now in its final year, the Bosnian left-back is perhaps the player whose departure appears more imminent than any other.
Striker Eddie Nketiah is also in his final year of contract and is likely to be sold, as is Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
As for the potential incomings, Arsenal are reportedly still hopeful of striking a deal with Real Madrid over Martin Odegaard, with Leicester City’s James Maddison also considered. The Gunners have also inquired about the availability of Lautaro Martinez during their talks with Inter over Bellerin.
