Jokin Aperribay, the Real Socieded president has recently revealed, as reported in the Guardian, that Arsenal’s signing of Carlos Vela will be going through.
“Arsenal have informed us that Vela will be with them next season“, he said on radio station Cadena SER.
With manager Arsene Wenger having put a buy-back clause in his contract for around £3.5M, the London club can have Vela back now he’s matured and learned his trade after being sold to Spanish side Real Sociedad.
Scoring 16 goals and making 12 assists last season has certainly got Wenger’s attention, and the 78 chances he’s created will see Arsenal’s lone striker Olivier Giroud greatly benefit from the good service.
With the Gunners having endured a failed title challenge following a slump in spring, they are hoping to better last season’s disappointment by bolstering their attacking options, and for £3.5M Vela is a perfect addition. They are 8/1 to win the 2014/15 title.
Vela played for Arsenal between 2005 and 2011, scoring just three league goals. But three years on, and the Mexican international appears to have found his feet form playing back in Spain that will no see the club get a bargain buy out of him due to wily Wenger thinking ahead.
