According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has travelled to Brazil to check on Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic. The Frenchman has previously stated that he will be at the World Cup this summer for a television channel in his homeland.
With the Carlos Vela will-he won’t he return to the Emirates saga rumbling on, the veteran French boss is looking at other attacking options. The Gunners boss could bring in more than one attacking player this summer and Mandzukic seems like a realistic target.
Despite finishing last season as Bayern Munich’s top scorer, Mandzukic is expected to be off-loaded this summer, with Polish striker Robert Lewandowski joining the Bavarians from arch-rivals Dortmund.
The 28-year-old has been pretty prolific in his time in the Bundesliga, having found the net 53 times in 110 appearances for Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich, which is not bad considering he was not always a regular starter for Bayern last season.
The Gunners are currently favourites to sign the Croatian international striker at odds of 6/1. I do believe he would be a very good addition to the Gunners attacking armoury for next season. He could prove a good alternative to current first choice striker Olivier Giroud and take some of the attacking burden off the shoulders of the France international.
Would Mario Mandzukic be a good signing for Arsenal?
