There’s no rest for the wicked these days, even in the midst of a global pandemic.
Football may not be fully back to business with some leagues still waiting to receive the green light, but it does appear as if we’re on our way back to a point where we can say that full operations have resumed once more. Whether or not that lasts, of course, is a different matter altogether, but it’s definitely worth noting that things haven’t been this busy in months – and that goes for the reported dealings in the transfer market, too.
The summer transfer window is almost upon us, and when it arrives, you can bet there’s going to be a whole lot of wheeling and dealing. While some players may be sold for cheaper amounts than we’re all used to seeing, the rate of inflation in the beautiful game almost certainly isn’t going to slow down – because football is always going to have money pumped into it at a fairly relentless rate.
In terms of Arsenal Football Club specifically, it goes without saying that Mikel Arteta is going to be under some kind of pressure or scrutiny to mix things up and bring in some new faces to the club. Whether or not he’s able to make the sort of changes that we’re all anticipating or hoping for remains to be seen, but for now, all we can do is hope.
One of the names that appears to be on the lips of everyone right now is none other than Thomas Partey. The Atletico Madrid midfielder, at the age of just 26, is considered to be one of the most realistic targets for the Gunners given what they’re trying to accomplish across the next few months.
In addition to being a star for Ghana on the international stage, Partey has been at the forefront of Atletico’s success in the last few years after making his way up through the ranks of the Spanish giants.
Now, it all comes down to what kind of investment Arsenal are willing to make. It’s going to have to be notable to attract the attention of Atletico, because as we know, they don’t let their top stars go all too easily.
Still, regardless of whether or not it’s an ‘out there’ figure, these are the deals Arteta needs to try and be making.
Will Arsenal secure the signing of Thomas Partey?
