While he may not have quite been at the races last season in what proved to be a pretty dismal campaign for just about everyone associated with the club, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang still holds the distinction of being a once in a generation type of striker. Nobody can move, think and finish like he can and while that sounds a bit over the top, it’s all about the style of play he has and the way in which he executes in possession.
Right now, with Arsenal rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, we can understand why there may be an element of panic in the air – but getting excited about the idea of Youssef En-Nesyri replacing him feels counterproductive.
A lot of supporters have this idea in their head that the best days of Aubameyang are behind him but at the age of 32, we simply don’t think that’s the case. He only hit that number in June and here are many, many examples of players who have gone on to have incredible careers between 32 and 40.
He may want to leave in January based on where the club is in the table, or perhaps even next summer, and that’s okay – but instead of the doom and gloom let’s just enjoy watching him while we have the chance.
Is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the best player at Arsenal Football Club?
